Someone didn’t take note of the warning the audience received right before a Broadway play begins. While Huge Jackman and Daniel Craig were attempting to get through ‘A Steady Rain’ someone’s phone began to ring and ring and ring. Jackman tried to ignore the sound but ended up addressing the viewer. He kept in character as he ranted,
“You wanna get that? You wanna get it, grab it! I don’t care, grab it. Grab your phone. It doesn’t matter.”
When the phone continued to ring, he shouted,
“C’mon, just turn it off – unless you got a better story and you wanna get out and tell your story!”
Everyone laughed and clapped and the show continued… but then the phone RANG AGAIN! This time Daniel had his say.
“Can you get that, whoever that is? Can you get it? We can wait, just get the phone.” Jackman joked, “Don’t be embarrassed, just grab it. We’ve all done it!”
Oh vey! Being on stage LIVE and shooting a movie are two completely different animals. These two leading men must have been going insane while this was all happening.

Not if you afford them the opportunity of either hanging up their phone or digesting it.
So rude! I hope that person was really embarrassed. They deserve it.
There is such a thing called vibrate for the phone if it needs to be left on. I have always shut my phone off when going into certain situations so as not to interrupt. Common courtesy.
Oh wow! That seems like a bit overreacting!
I’m glad others feel like me: it’s inexcusable to forget to turn our phone off, and ruin everyone else’s night. I agree that the person should have been made to leave, or had his/her azz kicked. (just kidding. A little.)
I’m old enough to remember a time when everyone didn’t have a cell phone glued to their ears/lips/bodies. And we survived just fine. In fact, it was nice to not be at someone else’s beck and call 24/7.
I’m so tired of going into stores, theaters, etc, and everyone is texting and/or talking. It’s so self-absorbed, not paying attention to running over others with your grocery cart because you’re telling your best friend that you’re at the store right now. Doh!
Why would anybody let a phone call distract them from looking at Hugh Jackman LIVE??!!
must be tolerated…
Exactly! Who really gives a shit if someone is shopping? It makes me crazy.
I think they should have done that it was a great thing…
haha. good for them for pointing that out in front of everyone. it’s so annoying when those phones ring and especially when the person decides not to stop it from ringing.
Its so annoying when phones ring.
I would’ve been MORTIFIED. That’s probably why the phone rang again – the person was probably terrified to reach for it to shut it off and draw attention to himself. At least Hugh & Daniel weren’t nasty. LOL That is one of my biggest pet peeves at the movie theater – even when people just open their phone – it lights up and then draws your attention from the screen because you see this glowing light in the dark – so obnoxious!
If I sat next to that person, I would probably be convicted of homicide. Nothing annoys me more in a movie, and I couldn’t imagine in a play.
oh how i love me some jackman =) come back home down under hugh!
I hate when the phones or texts start ringing in the movie theatre too! People you KNOW you’re suppose to turn of your phones!!!
I feel slightly bad for the poor guy whose phone it was, but not much. Before every Broadway play they make a BIG announcement over the PA system to turn off all phones, pagers, and any other electronic devices that make noise. I’ve never forgotten to turn my phone off at plays or movie theaters. It’s not that hard to remember. Oh, and I’m SO with the person who said even opening up the phone is annoying. The glow from the phone is distracting. I went to see The Wizard Of Oz the other night. It was a 1 night only showing on the big screen in honor of it’s 70th Anniversary. It was in Hi-Def and surround sound, it was AWESOME! But the person in front of me kept opening her phone to text. I wanted to kick her in the back of the head. LOL
I would have been annoyed by the ringing phone…but more upset at the fact the actors felt the need to address it.
I can’t stand it when I’m on the bus or subway and you have these morons talking on their cell phones for the whole world to hear. Who really gives a damn about what you’re eating for dinner or who is sleeping with who or if you’re arguing with your mate? Some people simply have no manners or consideration for anyone else.
that person should have been removed.
I hate, hate, hate when people don’t put their phones at least on silence. Seriously, you’re interrupting someone else’s work, grow some manners.
