Emma Watson Targeted By Rival Students At Harvard

Emma Watson Targeted By Rival Students At Harvard

This is one of the downsides of trying to attend college when you're a famous actress. Emma Watson reportedly attended a football game between Brown and Harvard only to find herself harassed by students working on the Harvard Voice magazine.

Before the game, a blog post on the mag's Web site said: "We will be Live-Tweetin' the game and possibly stalking Emma Watson, so keep your eyes peeled for that, too!" A succession of tweets posted on the Voice's Twitter account during the game followed, including, "Let's go Hermione! Lolz," a reference to Watson's character in "Harry Potter." It went on, "In enemy territory. Lookin for a certain witch," and, "WATSON FOUND. i repeat WATSON FOUND."

The Harvard Voice also posted a picture of Watson on its Web site and proclaimed its stalking mission a "success."

However, the Harvard Voice ended up facing backlash from their own fellow students. One Harvard student wrote online:

"Anybody can do anything unfeelingly to anybody in this day and age, especially if they feel imbued with entitlement from membership in Harvard College."

The Harvard Voice didn't completely back down, but an editor did post a note on the picture of Emma that read:

"There seems to be much ado about nothing over this photo and liveblog. Understand that these live tweets were made to be intentionally outrageous and overblown."

Neither the Voice editors nor Brown's reps would comment on the matter to the NY Post. Emma's rep could not be reached. Something tells me Emma will be left alone after this.

poor girl. all she wants to do is have a normal college experience like everyone else. i guess that's never going to happen. but im sure that if it gets worse, she will soon change her mind and just go to another university back home.

I don't think this would have made the news if students from a little-known school had done the same immature thing. It's unfortunate that the students in question are being held to a higher standard of maturity. Just because they're smart enough to go to Harvard doesn't mean that they're always responsible.
Also, meme, stereotype much? I think this incident was a case of immaturity; I don't see how it could be characterized as snottiness.

I am sorry but this is so effing stupid. My dad couldn't believe this behavior is coming from his alma mater. This is something I would respect from a bunch of high school students. Not students attending college, let alone a University like Harvard. To make it worse, it wasn't just random students. It was the damn school newspaper. That airhead editor should have people making jokes about him on twitter so it can see just how much fun it is. I feel bad for Emma. Hopefully things get better for her.

Serve's her right she would have been protected here in England if she went to Oxford or Cambridge but she wanted the States...well I hope she learns a lesson, take's it on the Chin and grows up. She is quite Winey if u met her in real life.
