Courteney Cox Was Afraid David Arquette Would Cause Issues At Coco's School

Courteney Cox was terrified her husband would get their daughter expelled from kindergarten. The former ‘Friends’ star says rules at five-year-old Coco’s school are very strict and was horrified when spouse David Arquette broke them.

“It’s an amazing school, but they have strict rules. David was out of town, we’ve been known to be late, and the lady was like, ‘I’ll say this, it’s very, very important for you all to be on time.’

“When he got back he wanted to drop her off and afterwards he’s like, ‘I was a little late.’ I said, ‘How late?’ and he goes, ‘Fifteen minutes.’ ‘What time did you get there?’ ‘9am.’ I said, ‘No, you weren’t 15 minutes late. It starts at 8.20am. You were 40 minutes late!’ ”

As well as being late, David had dressed Coco in a banned outfit and put forbidden food in her lunch box.

“I said, ‘David, that’s three rules!’ Our communications went through a breakdown, but we’re going to get through it. We’re going to get expelled.”

Courteney says she’s shocked at how many rules there are and says they are easy to unintentionally break. She told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres:

“I mean, so many rules you can’t believe it. You can’t bring certain snacks because other kids are allergic. You can’t wear certain clothes because, I’m not sure, they’re too risque? I’m not sure. And, you know, Coco loves to dress up.”

It's so true! When I was in school, my mother didn't have to worry about any of these issues. Today is a different world - that's for sure. I have to make Natalie lunch once a week and I start sweating just THINKING about what to pack.

I am pretty sure you can make ONE DAYS worth of suitable lunch for your daughter. No need to be so dramatic about it.

Why can't they get their child to school on time?? You would think with all the help celebrities get they should be early every day. School's really aren't the same as they use to, mostly because parent's complain about everything and now elementary is like going to military school.

That sounds really ridiculous. I wouldn't send my kids to a school that micromanaged food and dress to that degree, especially if I were unbelievably wealthy.

I'm gonna have to agree, for the most part. My son's private school does have a dress code (no blue jeans, boys have to tuck their shirts, no spaghetti straps, etc) but in general they can wear whatever they want as long as it's neat & modest. I see the food thing as a CYA against lawsuits... imagine if Coco traded her pb&j to a kid with peanut allergies.

My son's 3, and his private school is really nice. They have a uniform, but they couldn't care less if they show up in regular clothes. Some kids even wear crocs instead of shoes. I love it! This is a fun time to learn while playing, so let them wear anything! I believe the snack issue should be the parent's responsibility, my son has never had soda and he doesn't like candy (weird I know).

Clothes can not have slogans, sayings (i.e. t-shirts that have something written on it) My son wore ones the common and popular italian sports brand Kappa (like nike, adidas, nothing fancy just a sports clothing line). I am so used to the brand that i did not pay attention that it is a men and a women back to back on the logo even when small. We got a warning from the school! Also usually no tanktops are allowed for girls, its too revealing (even kindergarten!)... oh well...

This is sooooo sick, thank god I did not have to grow up in the US.
It seems like half of the population doesn´t learn to read or write and gets fed nothing but fast food - and the other half is actually sending their kids to schools like that....crazy!!!!

If she doesn't like the rules she can change schools. Its not like they don't have money to go to another private school.
