Dita Von Teese Offers Up Seduction Advice

Dita Von Teese thinks the key to seducing men is to "know your victim". The 37-year-old burlesque star is never "aggressive" when it comes to pursuing men, because it's easier to sit back and let them come to her.

"I don't have a technique for seducing men because they're all so different. You have to know your victim. It has always worked for me to let them come to me.

"I'm not very aggressive. I don't seduce and destroy. I like to be chased, but I'm not into playing hard to get."

Dita – who was married to goth rocker Marilyn Manson – also revealed she started dressing like a 1940s pin-up because she didn't feel attractive enough in jeans and a T-shirt. She said in an interview with Britain’s Hello! magazine:

"Part of the reason I style myself this way is because I never felt I could live up to what is typically shown to us as being sexy in mainstream culture. I never felt like a natural beauty or that I could be pretty without make-up.

"No matter what I do, I'm never going to look like someone like Gisele Bundchen. No matter what! So I like creating a fantasy and using glamour as my way of being sexy."

I suppose this makes sense. She worked with what she had - that's sound advice.

I love her, she's always so put together.

So basically were supposed to take advice from someone who does everything in her power not to be herself? That makes sense.

How is putting on make-up and a pretty dress not being yourself?? I think every girl feels pretty when they're done up that's doesn't mean your not being yourself...

This is true! I think it's neat to see porcelain white amongst all of the overly tanned faces.

she is so pretty. i get what she is saying. i am never going to be blonde and tan....i remember thinking when i was younger that i wasn't pretty because i could not fit into this "standard of what was pretty". she may not be what most people find a typical beautiful....but she is still beautiful. i wish she was in the mainstream when i was 12-16 years old. i would have killed for a well put together glamour girl with pale skin to look up too. i think she represents, to me, that beauty is very much different for each person. and when we stop trying to fit ourselves into another's concept we truely become beautiful and more accepting of ourselves.

Well put! I agree with you 100 percent! I'm not into the goth look, but everyone has their own look and growing up I never felt that I was beautiful in the mainstream sense of the word either. As I've grown up, I've done just what Dita is talking about, finding my own look. It's not "Victoria's Secret" beautiful, but I know I'm pretty in my own right. Other commenters might give her flack for admitting she wears makeup and dresses the way she does to feel better about herself, but I understand what she means. It's nice to have a celebrity who admits their insecurities and says how much hard work they put into looking nice! It's more humanizing than someone claiming they're effortlessly gorgeous.

She looks beautiful now, and looked beautiful as a fresh faced blonde teenager. I don't think she had to style herself to look a certain way because it was clear she had the looks to begin with, but regardless, her style works very well for her.
