The Ladies Of ‘Nine’ Dish To Vogue

Have you heard about the musical ‘Nine’? It has quite the cast, including: Daniel Day Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Marion Cotillard, and Penelope Cruz. They talked to Vogue for the November issue (although the movie’s release date was recently moved to Christmas Day).

Daniel’s character, Guido, is the main character of ‘Nine,’ which is about a director who is searching for the perfect lead in his movie while trying to control the women in his life. The actresses were the ones interviewed by Vogue. Here are some snippets from the interview:

Nicole talked about acting:

“I had no desire to work after I had my daughter, but to lure me back, this movie was the only way.”

Marion on doing musicals:

“It’s been my dream to do an American musical. When I was a child, Annie was my favorite. I just never thought I would get to do it.”

Penelope on balancing work and everything else in her life:

“I’ve been working since the age of seventeen, and I really haven’t stopped. I want to balance it a little more. Instead of making three or four movies a year, I will do one.”

And Kate on singing and dancing:

“I spent most of my childhood singing and dancing and just never had the chance to do it professionally. So when I got the chance to work with Rob [Marshall, the director], I was so excited, I was out of my mind.”

This is quite a cast! Are you looking forward to this film?

  6. Ninni says:

By the description it could be both very dull or very good. But the cast is amazing, just for that i’m sure i will be watching it. And i think it’ll be nice to see Marillon in an American flic since the french movies are quite different.

I wonder how Nicole felt doing a movie with Penelope, since penelope went out with Tom right after the divorce….hmmm

  8. Nemiha says:

I’m sure she is Adult enough to be ok with doing amovie with Penelope. They are both professionals

  9. Ariel says:

Unless the divorce came as a complete surprise, Tom dating someone probably wasn’t a big deal. It’s been years since they split anyhow.

  10. Anonymous says:

Except for Marion and Dame Judie NONE OF THEM are anywhere near the same league as Sophia Loren.

  11. Nemiha says:

This will be interesting to see the outcome.

  12. DonnaJ says:

I’m not too keen on most musicals.

  13. maiah912 says:

Same here. I couldn’t even get through “Moulin Rouge” and found “Mamma Mia” to be very long.

  14. dieselchicklett says:

    The cast is interesting…

  15. Daniee says:

I hope to see Kate Hudson step it up here, cause let’s be honest, sh eis out of her league here. I am sure she is happy to have the pleasure as she seems the professional always. Re: Penelope/Nicole…they probably both agree that Tom Cruise is a nut case and I am sure Penelope was happily unaware what he was doing to Nicole at the time especially with her children.

  16. switchstance5 says:

I’m excited to see the movie just because of the cast! But I’m skeptical on Kate Hudson singing….

  17. sweet kiddo says:

but you have to admit that moulin rouge was a good movie .. :)

  18. Ariel says:

For me, it was overly hyped. By the time I got around to seeing it, I thought, “This is it?”
