PETA Is Peeved At Paris Hilton Over Pig

PETA is really angry with Paris Hilton over her recent adoption of a pet pig.
According to TMZ, PETA claims:
she's setting a "wretched example" by treating animals like they're "as disposable as her friends and fiances."
Wow, that's pretty harsh! They went on to say:
"The Chihuahuas, ferrets, and kinkajous she's paraded through her home in the past were not accessories, and pot-bellied pigs aren't either."
Do you think she's being irresponsible? Or did the media just falsely portray her as a bad pet owner?

I can't stand PETA or Paris but I think it's a good thing if people begin to recognize pigs for the intelligent animals that they are, equally deserving of life as a dog or cat. She just better not be eating pork anymore, or she is seriously sick.

Actually Paris bought it from a breeder not a "hot dog pig" farm, so I don't think PETA would be upset if Paris hadn't bought it and,....you know....someone who wouldn't get tired of it bought it and took care of it forever.
Also....just because someone has made a mistake at some point in their lives, like eaten meat, doesn't mean they can't ever then defend animal rights or go vegan/vegetarian.

I am sure the animals are taken care of by her staff, but still, the example she's setting is a terrible one. Pets are not accessories! Most people don't have the resources to care for such an extensive collection of pets--veterinary care is a MUST and it's really expensive!
I think that IF Miss Hilton feels the need to acquire any more pets in the future she should at least adopt animals who are in need of new homes and not ones that she pays thousands of dollars for from specialty breeders. SO many animals in shelters need homes (purebreeds AND mutts, which are actually the ones I prefer!) So, yeah, there's my opinion.

You guys need to realize that PETA is doing this soley for the publicity. They're known as being insenstive pricks who take advantage of any situation by being extremists. And seriously? You think Paris Hilton doesn't have a full time staff ready to take care of all her pets? Did you honestly think she took care of them when she wasn't busy? Seriously? YOU ALL NEED TO DO RESEARCH THIS B**** IS A HORRID PET OWNER. She LOST tinkerbell n tried to replace it with another Chi that looks NOTHING like tinkerbell. PLUS she left for WEEKS and had several of her dogs in a CLOSET and her HOUSEKEEPER found them DEAD. ALSO she has been known to have the cops called on her cuz her animals constantly get out and run into the streets. SO before you all trash PETA do some research on this piece of s***.

PETA speaks as if they are her family members instead of an organization that is trying to advocate animals, yet ends up slaying THOUSANDS of dogs and cats every year and dumping them in garbage heaps. Paris may not be the best person in the world to own an animal, but at least she's not an entire organization of liars. PETA should be ashamed of themselves.

Most communities have limitations on how many pets you can own, and what kind of animals can be owned as pets. The kinkajoo was definitely a big no no, and I think it bit her and she sent it off somewhere. I am sure the novelty will wear off once the pig has grown into it's adult stages of life. While they are still great animals, they aren't so cute or cuddly when they weight close to 300 pounds and can't be carried around in a Louis Vuitton bag.

i don't always agree with PETA's methods but they do have a point here. paris is notorious for all the animals she has, parades around, but just never seems to be home long enough to take care of them herself. it's like having a buncha kids but passing them off to the help.

Anyone should be allowed to have a pet they want. Paris is using her own money and time to give to her pet pig. Peta is just a busybody who is always hungry for publicity. If they want to help animals then they should do it their own way without casting aspersions on other people or forcing other people to their own ideas of pet control. To each his own, Peta. You do your thing, I do mine. No organization can tell me what to adopt or not adopt or buy or not buy as a pet.
Everyone including Paris has the right to adopt any pet and Peta has no right making judgments on who should have a pet, or, how many pets one can have. Paris has the staff to take care of her pets and her pets are taken good care of. She has two people doing nothing but take care of her pets.

I personally have a pot belly pig. They are a lot of work, and need love and constant attention. They are like having a 2 year old for 20 years (yes, they live a long time) since she hasn't spayed or neutered her dogs (not sure why) I don't know if she is cut out to have this type of animal.
A female needs fixed because they go into a cycle every 21 days or so get cranky and pee all over if not fixed. A boar has a horrible scent will grow large tusks and drool if not fixed.
Pigs have to be trained (and they are NOT trained like dogs) you can't smack them with a paper because they remember and become angry and stay angry. They bite other animals (to find their place in a herd) if not trained. And so many other things! Most don't like to be cuddled or pet. They liked to be scratched.
(Very smart creatures indeed! Mine has learned her colors, shapes, and even tricks like a dog. Sit, wave, spin etc...)
When this piglet grows to an adult and weights 80-150 pounds will she still love it? I hope so.
