Bronson Pinchot starred alongside Tom Cruise back in the day on the movie Risky Business. In an interview this week, the actor had some pretty harsh words about his experience working with Tom. According to Popeater, Bronson shared this:
“He made constant, constant unrelated homophobic comments, like, ‘You want some ice cream, in case there are no gay people there?’ … There was no basis for it. It was like, “It’s a nice day, I’m glad there are no gay people standing here.” Very, very strange. Years and years later when people started to torment him with that, I used to think ‘God, that’s really fitting, because he tormented a lot of people as a 20-year-old.’”
Pinchot adds, “If someone’s 20 years old and every third line out of their mouth is anti-something specific, then draw your own conclusion.”
And he said this about Denzel Washington:
“one of the most unpleasant human beings I’ve ever met in my life,”
Ouch! I wonder if Denzel will have any response to this?
Bronson did have a few positive things to say. One of them was about fellow actor, Tom Hanks. The two met when Bronson was in a play with Rita Hanks.
“a wonderful and genuine and lovely and down-to-earth person … so it’s not really true that big stars need to be driven and repulsive, because he’s anything but.”
Tom’s publicist has already responded:
Obviously this is so far removed from who Tom Cruise is as a person, this must have been said in jest,”
Do you think he was joking around or do you think there’s any truth to this? Maybe just another case of trying to get press by saying shocking things about celebrities who are more famous?

Now I’ve seen it all: Balki outing Tom Cruise as homophobic.
Glad to hear someone tell it like it is and not be afraid of “burning bridges.” I think for him it’s probably one of those times that it’s pointless to lie because you can tell the truth and people will choose not to believe you anyway.
I’m the farthest thing from a Tom Cruise fan, but this guy Pinchot is bringing stuff up from over 20 years ago? That’s a cry for attention if I’ve ever heard one…
Perhaps Bronson thinks he has nothing to lose…it’s not like his career is going strong.
HAHA I hadn’t bothered to Wiki who Bronson Pinchot was and then I saw your comment about it being Balki!
Tom Cruise was 20 and fairly new to the business back then, and wasn’t a Scientologist at that time either. I’m sure he was being hit on by both sexes, cause he was definitely cute. Bronson? Well hasn’t his career been on fire the past few years?
its sad when losers use Katie or Tom for $$$$,job and publicity.
Lies!!!!
who the hell is this guy?
You have to remember all $cientologists are homophobic. They believe it is a sickness that can be cured by $cientology.
Meh, whatever.
Who is this guy anyway? now on EW he is retracting his opinions.
he is suffering from attention deficit syndrome
Tom is the King of Nice in Hollywood. He is even nice to the paps that dont deserve it.
I’m surprised about his comment of Denzel, but then again who knows what celebrities are like in real life.
I’ve heard from multiple producers that Denzel Washington is an absolute nightmare to work with. Obviously, he shouldn’t have publicly said this stuff, but it’s true.
why is he bringing this up now? seriously.
he’s trying to gain publiclity in a really crul way, out of all the things people say about Tom, I don’t think’s he a vicious type of guy!
Who knows if this is true….
not sure who he is but why is he talking about what tom cruise said if that was like 20 years ago?
Ha! Have you guys seen the movie $ex Drive? James Marsden (I’m glad for any excuse to type his name) played a homophobe… I won’t tell you how it turns out, but you’ve heard the quote, “Methinks thou doth protest too much!”
I just saw that last weekend!
I agree, it’s sad and a little desperate.
I say it’s completely BS. No one has heard from this guy since the late 80s, so I’m guessing he’s just trying to get his name back into the press.
It’s disgusting that people stoop to throwing people under the bus to get a name for themselves.
Whether Denzel or Tom Cruise were the Agents of the AntiChrist, matters not, Mr. Pinchot just set the bridge called his career, on fire.
sound like he was an *ss..
I don’t know about most of what Pinchot said BUT the part about Tom Cruise being a jerk is true. I used to live in Highland Park, Ill where the bulk of Risky Business was filmed. It’s a popular place for movie filming. The summer Risky Business was being filmed the only thing people talked about was when and where they were going to film the Porsche being driven into Lake Michigan. One night I stopped to get gas at the same station I always went to. I was in my late teens and was with some friends. Part of the gas station had been taken over for filming. Someone told us that the guy who was the star of the movie was hanging out there, so we went over to talk to him. He really was kind of obnoxious. Cruise wasn’t rude per se but his answers to simple questions like “where are you from?” were ridiculous. The answer to that question was “I’m from everywhere.” And it wasn’t a I’ve lived lots of places kind of thing—it was an insufferable bore kind of answer. The whole conversation was like that. And we weren’t being all silly and girlie–we mostly just wanted gas.
Hmm. Tom seems like a really good guy in interviews and to his fans. But who knows, maybe he was homophobic back when he was 20.
get out of the closet tom
I’ve heard from multiple producers that Denzel Washington is an absolute nightmare to work with. Obviously, he shouldn’t have publicly said this stuff, but it’s true.
Bronson, who isn’t exactly relevant, is committing career suicide by going public with his opinions. Employment 101 – you don’t publicly diss Hollywood power players in a position to make or break you. Dumb move even if it is true. No one will trust him not to do the same to them.
