Edward Norton Shares His Thoughts On Social Networking Sites

Add Edward Norton to the list of celebs who don’t like social networking sites.

“I haven’t personally really engaged in a lot of this new kind of social networking stuff like Twitter or Facebook or MySpace. I mean, the notion of people following what I am doing every day is like torture for me. It’s absolutely the last thing that I’m looking for. It seems to me to be really just about social chatter.”

Yep, that’s the idea. But I can see where, if you’re trying to protect your privacy, then joining a social networking site would very much defeat the purpose.

Yet Edward joined twitter anyway- for his favorite charity, the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust.

“It’s a good example of a way that you can turn that platform into something where you actually can accomplish something good. It’s my first attempt. We’re putting our running training log on Twitter. You can see can see pictures too on the site there.

The trust conserves the wildlife and culture of the Maasai tribe of Kenya, Africa.”

That seems like a great way to use twitter.

So agree on the Facebook, Twitter comments. It’s very egotistical to think that everyone cares about your life that much.

I heard that he’s an a**hole. But I think he’s a great actor. Too bad he’s got an ego the size of Montana.

  5. Chelle says:

I completely agree on the facebook, twitter and mypace comment. I don’t care about what people are doing.

there are a bucketload of people who would disagree. me not being one of them. who gives a rats a*s what everyone is doing every second of the day?

  8. jac says:

I totally agree! I have a facebook page that is looked at once or twice a month. I think it is a *little* self-absorbed to assume people (even though they are friends or family) would actually be interested in my daily goings-on.

  9. Anonymous says:

i signed up for facebook about 6 months ago and honestly i find it extremely boring and somewhat pathetic….seriously why is everybody’s advertising their life to the world? do we really want to know what you’re doing on a daily basis or what’s on your mind everyday? c’mon, people should get out more and get connected with the real people.

  10. DonnaJ says:

    Amen.

Some celebs don’t post anything personal on their Twitter feed. Just sayin’… you can still be connected to the fans without revealing anything private about your life. :)

  15. bgduckie_01 says:

    i agree.

  16. DonnaJ says:

Ed Norton is one of my favorite actors as well and the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust sounds like a great charity.

  17. maiah912 says:

I like him as an actor and I think he’s wise not to broadcast his entire life on Twitter or Facebook.

  18. Manimal says:

Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors. You don’t see his personal stuff too much, so this makes sense.
