Angelina Jolie Is A Semi-Homemade Mom

Do you watch 'Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee' on the Food Network? It is a lifesaver if you want to bake but don't have time to make everything from scratch! Apparently, Angelina Jolie is a fan of the show and reportedly used one of Sandra's ideas when baking for son Maddox's birthday.

"I was really surprised when her friend let me know she made my No Bake birthday cake," says Lee, whose show hit Food Network show, Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee, provides viewers with no-fuss recipes prepared in minutes. "She's a Semi-Homemade mommy just like the rest of us!"

The cake, which Lee says is "a beautiful display that anyone can do in five minutes," starts with a store-bought white sheet cake, topped with a plain white round cake and then surrounded by cupcakes and pre-decorated cookies. "What's great is that you get to personalize that beautiful display," says Lee.

"She's a very busy, overextended mother," Lee, 43, tells PEOPLE. "I'm very proud not just that she made my cake but that someone of her stature isn't delegating these [tasks], like her children's birthday, to other people. I'm glad she loves the show and that the kids apparently also watch it too."

It sounds like a great idea! Does anyone out there watch Sandra Lee? And if so, have you tried any of her ideas?

I don't get that cooking channel but I had to go look it up after seeing this... How on earth do you manage to stack premade cakes like that? Every place that I've seen that sells premade cakes sells them frosted. There's no way I could do that without ending up with thumbprints in the cakes.

I've never done her version but I stack frosted cakes all the time. I use 13" angled spatulas (the long, skinny ones) to hold the upper cake as I position it on the lower. It's really easier than you might think.

I absolutely love Angelina Jolie, I don't care about her past, her present or her future, there is something about that I foung genuinely honest and fascinating about her. It's like she doesn't belong in hollywood, she lives her own way of live and I love the way she raises her kids withouth hiding them like some zombies! I have always loved her even before she met Brad or before she had kids! She is not a bore like most of oter actressed. I wish her all the success in her private life or professional life!

Technically it is a baked birthday cake...someone else did the baking. That would make the cake and cupcakes store bought. If you put on frosting from a can---still store bought no matter what you do to it.

Haha!!! No kidding! It really isn't that complicated or time-consuming to bake a cake from scratch, and even if you use a mix from a box, at least make the effort with homemade frosting. Store-bought frosting gags me. I love baking & decorating cakes though, so maybe I'm the freak here. ;)

Sandra sounds like an infomercial. Most people would just say it's nice that Angelina used her recipe but she really went overboard.

I have only seen bits and pieces of Sandra Lee's show. I have noticed that she coordinated the curtains and dishes behind her which is kind of cool.

I've never seen the show before, but when I cook/bake, I do it from scratch...just the way I was raised.
