If you don’t know who Julia Jones is, that’s about to change. She landed the role of Leah Clearwater in ‘Eclipse.’ Leah is the only female werewolf in the La Push wolfpack. Julia talked to Lime Life about her character and how she related to Leah.
Here’s how Julia describes Leah:
[S]he’s the only werewolf who’s a female, which is in itself a very cool thing, but she has this complicated backstory where she is heartbroken because the head of the pack Sam Uley left her for her best friend and her cousin.
So in addition to that she’s dealing with all the changes that you have in your body when you become a wolf, and as a girl there’s really nobody who knows what’s happening to her – she’s really alone and out there and heartbroken at the same time.
And it makes her very angry and mean, and really she’s just in a lot of pain and she doesn’t know how to ask for help so she lashes out.
Julia said she was able to related to Leah’s experiences emotionally.
The heartbreak is a very universal emotion and most of us have felt that – I have. So that was clearly part of it. But also just being so caught up in what’s going on in your world emotionally that you can’t connect to the outside world, that’s something that’s a hard thing. Anytime you go through something dark and painful, it makes you want to just withdraw from the world, except you can’t.
Julia also said she herself was a tomboy: she was even the only girl in her football league!
You can read about how Leah won the part here. I’m looking forward to seeing Julia portray Leah: she really seemed to have a good grasp of the character!

She’s sweet looking.
I vaguely remember her from ‘ER’. It will be neat how she deals with the crazy success of the movie.
Same here. It ended up… kind of disturbing. Leah & Jacob would’ve been great together.
I wanted Leah and Jacob to get together.
I could see that, I didnt like how she wrote Jacob into his relationship.
Someone needs to teach her how to stand in a dress and heels.
I never heard of her.
She is also a major Boitch in person, so that probably helps play the character of Leah who is also not liked much
She fits for that character. Kinda sucks, though, because we are introduced to Leah in New Moon (briefly) the book, but it sounds like she doesn’t make an appearance until Eclipse. (movie-wise) Oh well. I have high hopes!
She looks the part.
don’t know who she is.
