Lady Gaga says condoms are her favorite accessory. The singer was honored with a Stylemaker award at the 13th annual Accessories Council Exchange (ACE) Awards on Monday and used her acceptance speech as an opportunity to promote safe sex.

Accepting the award from designer Marc Jacobs, she said:
"I think we must all remember that the ultimate accessory is the condom."
The outspoken singer’s fashion outlook is in contrast to her musical attitude, after she recently said song writing was like "mind-blowing, irresponsible, condom-less sex."
"Writing a record is like dating a few men at once. You take them to the same restaurants to see if they measure up, and at some point you decide who you like best.
“When you make music or write or create, it's really your job to have mind-blowing, irresponsible, condom-less sex with whatever idea it is you're writing about at the time."

when she says that committing your art is like having mind-blowing, irresponsible, condom-less sex, she means that you go to whatever place in your mind and heart your art takes you to. that's not something that everyone does, because it can be painful and dangerous and it makes you face things that you wouldn't if you stayed at a "safe" distance. most people don't go there. and i think it's fabulous that there are still celebrities out there trying to make safe sex cool, especially when general media (movies, tv) completely ignores condoms in sex scenes...
