Nicole Kidman was told marrying Tom Cruise would “ruin” her career. The Hollywood actress – who was married to Tom for 10 years from 1990 after meeting on the set on ‘Days of Thunder’ – believes her acting success was boosted by her romance with the actor, despite her advisors insisting she was making the wrong decision in tying the knot.
“I became famous very young. I became very famous because I was the wife of somebody. I did a lot of good, worthwhile work in Australia between the ages of 14 and 19 and then I married someone famous. And really, despite the huge profile that brought to me, I was still finding my feet.
“My agents at the time were like, ‘Do not get married! It will ruin your career!’ And I was like, ‘But I’m in love!’ “
Despite Nicole’s new-found fame when she was just 23, she insists she only married Tom because they were hopelessly in love. She told Britain’s GQ magazine:
“All I know is that I want someone interested in fame. And that’s not why I got married. I wanted to work with people who intrigued me.”
Following their divorce, Nicole went on to marry singer Keith Urban, with who she has a 15-month-old daughter, Sunday Rose, while Tom – who has two adopted children with Nicole – has three-year-old Suri with wife Katie Holmes.
Wonder why she’s bringing this up now?

I think she is addicted to love and with that said to men. In an interview talking about feeling lonely in the night she won the Oscar, she said “I had my mum and I had Bella, who was 10 years old, sitting in the front row — but that’s different. I’m talking about a love, a life partner. It’s my thrust to have that. That’s always been me.”
Come on, there is nothing more beautiful than to have your mom and daughter see you winning an Oscar. And as usual but she does not talk too much about Bella or Connor as she should. That is sad.
Regarding break out with Tom, rumors are she she cheated on him with Ewan McGregor. Tom may be control freak, but she is not as innocent as she may want others to think of her.

I think her career actually got better right around the time of the divorce. She’s had a few bad ones these past few years but right around the time of the divorce she had some really good movies, like The Others and Moulin Rouge. I think those were around the time of her divorce. I’m too lazy to look it up.
I think you are correct. I think people might have had a vague idea of who she was, but her movies didn’t really start taking off until after they were divorced.

He broke it off with her when she was pregnant just before their 10th anniversary so he wouldn’t have to give her 1/2 of everything(according to California law). This was right after he read a public letter to her at a Christmas/holiday party saying how much he adored her. Then she had a miscarriage. I wonder what level of scientology that is? He’s a jerk.
