Is 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' Moving To Cable?
According to Deadline Hollywood Daily's Nikki Finke (a reporter who focuses exclusively on Hollywood), it's true. Oprah Winfrey reportedly will move her talk show to her cable network, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) in 2011.
I've learned that in coming days Winfrey and Discovery will issue a press release announcing OWN's on-air launch for the start of 2011. And, in several weeks, Oprah will tell the public that she's ending her syndicated Chicago-based daytime talk show when her current deal runs out and moving it to OWN headquarters in Los Angeles probably as soon as mid-2011.
Cable is definitely growing, but it doesn't have anywhere near the audience-size of regular TV (despite lots of buzz). Oprah's been so successful for so long that she'll be fine no matter what, and I'm guessing much of her audience has cable, but for all those who don't: no more Oprah.
This could be the end of an era (or lead to a true explosion in cable :). If it's true.

Interesting. I didn't know she had her own network but it also doesn't surprise me either. I'm sure her followers won't mind what channel she is on though.

If this is true it's probably to wind the show down and launge her network. Not all areas/cable providers will carry OWN. I didn't have have Oxygen which is a network Oprah either started or was a major investor. To help get viewers she did "Oprah After the Show" on it. I would think if her talk show was going to be on for years, she would stay syndicated and do another "After the Show" type show.

Doesn't she understand that most of the country is struggling financially and can't spend any extra $ to watch TV. It feels elitist. I won't spend extra $ to watch. Didn't do it for the Oxygen Channel either.

Who cares? Oprah is overrated and caters to stay at home moms or welfare moms no working woman has time to sit and watch this crap, they are too busy working. The demographic of people watching t.v during the day is mostly trashy people hence the fact the MAURY POVICH is the most popular show on t.v. For real.
I'm a SAHM/WAHM and I don't have time to watch the crap either.

her ratings are not going down....she has over 7 million viewers and is seen over 140 countries.
