Britney Spears Having Trouble In Australia

Britney Spears Having Trouble In Australia

Here's Britney Spears leaving the Hyatt Hotel Perth for her first Australian concert of her 'Circus' tour. Looks like she switched out her red sunglasses for an orange pair - same style though.

The singer is having a bit of an issue while down under. An official wants to force Britney's camp to let her fans know she isn't singing live during her performance.

Reports that she will lip-sync during many of the concerts prompted the New South Wales Minister for Fair Trading to suggest tickets should carry disclaimers about whether parts of the concerts were pre-recorded.

Australians would not tolerate a "Mickey Mouse performance", Virginia Judge told Sydney's Daily Telegraph in reference to the US star's past as one of Disney's Mouseketeer personalities.

"Let's be clear -- live means live," she said. If you are spending up to $182 dollars, I think you deserve better than a film clip."

They are trying to get a disclaimer placed on the ticket. What do you think about this idea? Should all concerts let their viewers know whether or not the performance is live?

GIVE ME A BREAK. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT NO STAR, NO MATTER WHO IT IS CAN'T SING FOR ONE HOUR STRAIGHT AND RUN AROUND AND DANCE LIKE CRAZY. IF YOU ARE GOING TO A CONCERT AND EXPECT THAT FROM EVERYONE (WELL UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO SEE SOMEONE THAT IS JUST SITTING THERE AND SINGING BALLETS AND NOT DANCING OR ENTERTAINING) YOU ARE CRAZY. I AM JUST HAPPY THAT I GOT TO WITNESS IT LIVE.

If I want to see someone dance, I'll go to a dance performance. If I want to hear someone sing, I'll go to see a singer...and the singer shouldn't be lip syncing. I'm just happy I didn't pay cash money to witness it live.

MORON ALERT!!--apparently you have never seen Pearl Jam, Prince, No Doubt, Elton John, U2, Alanis Morissette--real bands and musicians that do not lip synch like this generations lame entertainers.

I think the disclaimer is a very good idea, for all artists. I think this idea goes hand in hand with the law France wants to pass putting a disclaimer on all photoshopped ads.

I think this is a really good idea. Of course nobody truly things Britney is singing live, but she's a good catalyst for this problem. They could come up with two different terms: Live Concert and Live Entertainment Event. The latter would not necessarily require singing. Something along those lines.

I am sure Britney would have never gone there if she new they were going to do this to her. Why would they wait til the last minute when she is there to try and pull this on her. She should just cancel her tour over there. I guess they have to do the same for other concerts and children shows like Sesame Street and Disney House. People should already know that not everyone sings ever song live, if you do then your nieve. I believe this is just someone that does not like Brit Brit. To hell with them Brit and come back home.

The issue is the price of the tickets. $1500 was the price I saw being questioned (not sure what currency).

What kills me is that someone like Ashlee Simpson lip syncs on a tv show and it's an international incident that she's skewered for but it's totally fine for Britney to do it at her "live" concerts and nobody in the media is squawking? WTF? and just fyi - i've heard Ash sing live and it was GOOD.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

yes, they should definitely have a disclaimer! hello people, are you stupid?? maybe some folks just don't care about flushing money away

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Um #1 you are an IDIOT. MADONNA NEVER LIP SYNCS and that biotch works it out in concert. Face the facts that your girl Britneys shit doesnt fly around the world in other countries where singers actually have TALENT. No one should pay $200 to see this pig wave her arms around like its the freakin happy hands club.

Isn't it common knowledge that she pretty much always lip synchs? She's reall bad at it, so I wouldn't think it would need to be announced.

This is ridiculous. Britney Spear is an entertainer. Not just a singer. If they want to see someone sit on a stool and sing live then they can go to their local dive bar and see someone sing. Going to a Britney show is an experience. Its dancing, costumes, crazy scenery all set to the background of her music. If this woman doesn't want to pay to see her 'lip sync' then she doesn't have to. No one is making her, but she should shut up, and find something better to do.

People who think that a singer/entertainer is going to get up there and sing, dance and entertain an audience for hours is delucional. If you're a fan and you want to pay whatever amount of money to see someone you like that's your prerogative, but if you're so concerned about the show not being 100% live than it's best that you stay in your livingroom singing and jumping around.... I'll love to see who long that will last before you pass out!!!

I think Britney's concert was just the catalyst for the Australian Government to request this disclaimer. I for one agree with it. I refuse to pay for some lame singer (I use that term lightly) to lip sync at a concert. If you want to sing AND dance then get fit enough to do it. Pink did a massive amount of concerts while in Australia, the most of any artist in the entire history of concerts and no one complained. She sang live and danced and did her circus acts etc. I saw Usher a few years back and he was fantastic, he sang live AND managed to dance and entertain the audience. We also know that most songs are digitally remixed so we don't expect the songs to be ALBUM perfect but I do expect them to be able to sing in tune and be able to sing and dance at the same time. The likes of Britney should just stick to doing albums and public appearances or make the price of their tickets minimal.
I am from Australia and just read more news on Brit Brit, apparently a lot of concert goers to her first gig walked out, some as quickly as 4 songs in, she not only was lip syncing but was also NOT dancing, didn't talk to the audience and had her back to them for most of the time. Some are asking for their money back.
Also the price that was mentioned of $1500 was in US exchange and was apparently for 2 seats in a little love seat type of set up. The cheapest ticket you could purchase here was just under $200.00AU.
