Robert Pattinson Is Not A Romantic

Although he plays a romantic vampire on the Twilight series, actor Rob Pattinson isn’t much of a romantic.

“I can’t think of a single romantic thing that I’ve ever done.”

But who can blame the guy? Apparently he hasn’t had much luck in that area.

I would never serenade someone to be romantic – you have to have so much balls to do that. I put a flower in someone’s locker when I was 15 years old, this girl called Maria. She thought that it was someone else and the other guy claimed it as well, which is great.”

All that effort for nothing! Lol. However, Rob did say that he can appreciate a good on-screen romance.

“It’s like saying guys can’t appreciate romance,” he says. “I’ve watched Titanic and I didn’t think, ‘Oh, this is a girl’s film.’” Similarly, he says, “I felt like the storyline in New Moon is very heartbreaking and true. I didn’t think I was doing something just for the sake of romance.”

Besides having control over his personal life, Rob also likes to have control on how the media perceives him.

“I get quite obsessive about things, and possessive as well,” says the star. “I have very, very specific ideas about how I want to do my work and how I want to be perceived, to the point of ridiculousness sometimes.”

“I don’t listen to anyone else,” he says. “That’s why I don’t have a publicist – I can’t stand it if someone’s trying to tell me to do something which might be a mistake.”

That’s quite an interesting reason for why he doesn’t have a publicist. Do you think Rob has handled the media pretty well?

I’m glad he doesn’t have a publicist, means he is himself even in public intead of having a fake image created by someone else like so many Hollywood actors have.
And I love that story about the flower.

i feel like a publicist probably just skews your perception of reality even more. you become incapable of making your own decisions and then you’re dependent on them.

I don’t see the need for a publicist, really. You own your mistakes and your triumphs. I have a problem with authority, though, so maybe that’s just me. :)

I had no idea he didn’t have a publicist! In that case, props to him, he’s handling his fame quite well.

I couldn’t care less if he’s not a romantic. Nothing I think of doing with him includes a serenade. Yum! :P
