Gwyneth Paltrow is to play Nicole Kidman’s wife. The ‘Iron Man’ actress has signed on to replace Charlize Theron in ‘The Danish Girl’, an adaptation of a novel about the first post-operative transsexual.
The film follows Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener who found success after Einar stood in for a female model that Greta was set to paint. As their work gained popularity, Greta encouraged her husband to continue to adopt a female guise.
This eventually led to Einar undergoing a sex change operation in 1931, shocking the world and threatening their marriage.
Anand Turker is set to direct the film, which screenwriter Lucinda Coxon is adapting from David Ebershoff’s novel of the same name.
Last week, Nicole said she actively sought out “extreme” film choices and explored all aspects of love, sex and marriage.
“In the end I hope my life will be a mix of extreme love and bold artistic choices. I’ve never wanted to be safe. I’ve never chosen safe relationships. And I’ve never chosen safe films.”
This will certainly not be a blockbuster, but is it a story you are interested in hearing? Does it become more intriguing now that you know it’s based on true events?

Cannot stand Kidman and Paltrow is dull. Would not waste my time spending money to see both of them.
Ummm, no…
She must be the man in the movie she looks like a man.
This would be interesting!!!
I would have never expected to see the two of them in a movie together, much less playing lovers. It will be a sight to see.
I’m guessing Gwyn will be the man in the relationship
pass.
i love the colour of her sweater.
I’m pretty sure Nicole and Gwyneth will bring out the raw emotions…
Gwyneth is not feminine at all so i can see her dressed up as a man and looking ok. Same with Nicole.
I don’t care for either one of them.
Me either.
I’m not a particular fan of either of them but I am familiar with the story at play… I think it’d be great to see it in a movie, so I’ll definitely watch it.
I am not a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow at all, she is always so depressing. I think I’ve only enjoyed her performance in one movie (Proof) and she happened to play someone who was depressed so it was a good fit for her. She was even depressing in Iron Man.
fishsticks and granny freeze together on film…i don’t think i could stomach that.
” Nicole said she actively sought out “extreme” film choices and explored all aspects of love, sex and marriage.” … Wonder if she is into bondage ?….
Heh ;o)
it’ll be interesting.
