Amanda Peet sat down with PopEater to chit-chat about starring in her first “big budget” action film, ’2012′. She will be co-starring with John Cusack for the third time – they were together in Martian Child and Identity.
On why she decided to sign on for this film:
Well, Roland Emmerich, certainly. I feel if you’re going to do a disaster movie you want to do it with Roland Emmerich. Then Chiwetel [Ejiofor] was cast, then John was cast and it was pretty much a no-brainer. I thought the script was a page-turner and I loved ‘The Day After Tomorrow.’ I feel Roland is the master of this genre. So, if you’re going to do it, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance
Talking about doing three films with John, she says she’d love to do a romantic comedy next.
I want to do a romantic comedy with him, that’s the thing. That’s the final frontier.
Amanda is not a fan of scary movies. PopEater asked if she was a fan of the 1970′s disaster movies. Her reply:
No, because I get really scared. I couldn’t watch ‘Jaws’ and I can’t watch those movies.
She shared the most frightening thing about filming a disaster movie:
The Gimbal (a pivot that rotates around an axis, like a gyroscope or compass) is a little scary because it feels like a real earthquake. It probably is like a 10.5. Whatever it is, it’s hard to look cool and it’s a little scary.
Amanda is not ruling the possibility to jump back into television.
I love television and I would do it again in a heartbeat. It’s the same things with movies, more than half my movies have flopped or tanked. You don’t stop. If Aaron Sorkin said, “Hey, I have this script. Do you want to read it?” I’d say, “No, I don’t want to read it. Just tell me where to show up and I’ll do it. I’ll sign my six-year contract.”
Are you planning to see ’2012′? It opens this Friday in theaters. What do you think of a romantic comedy starring Amanda and John Cusack?

love her necklace! and her movies!!!
Awsome! Wonderful post.
I will probably rent 2012.
Oh really? I don’t know, it just didn’t work for me.
I loved “Martian Child “, but I’m definitely skipping this one.
Have no idea who these peeps are, but that necklace is TACKY!!!!
I really like her. I feel the too hate scary movies. I watch them anyways, but I’m always terrified afterwards. The movie “The Strangers” is like my worst nightmare.
I’m a sucker for big budget “end of the world” flicks so I’ll be seeing this one. The family has already told me no so it looks like I have to either go solo or wait until it’s out on DVD.
I like Amanda Peet but her choices in films really suck.
i can’t stand amanda peet, but this movie looks hilarious/awful and i’m really excited about it.
I don’t know if you meant to be funny with that remark but I’m laughing because I agree!
I’ll see the movie for sure…and I think Amanda is lovely.
i absolutely LOVE horrible, over the top, cheesy movies. this one looks great!
