ABC is reportedly “this close” to sealing a deal to bring ‘Charlie’s Angels’ back to your television screen. According to Variety those on board with the remake of the 70′s action show:
Josh Friedman, who recently adapted the “Terminator” franchise “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” is onboard to write and exec produce the new “Angels.” and Leonard Goldberg, who launched the series with Aaron Spelling in 1976, as well as Drew Barrymore
Do you think Drew Barrymore has an attachment to the series since she starred in the movie versions? That’d be my guess.
The article also talks about the ‘Fantasy Island’ remake that is in the works, too.
What do you think of revamping old tv shows to give them a current spin? Shows like ’90210′ and ‘Melrose Place’ have done it successfully but what about these older “iconic” shows? Will you be able to accept an updated version?

What? Can’t they come up with anything new? Even using the same idea or concept but in a more updated fashion would be okay but come on, at least give it a new name and quit trying to use the success of a past show to get people to watch. That new Melrose Place is a total failure (not that I’ve seen it, it just looks really bad).
There must be an idea slump in Hollywood. If it isn’t a really bad reality show they are trying to pitch, it is a remake of an old show into either a movie or a revamped tv show. And they wonder why no one is watching.
I am all for it. It is a new day and age. Charlies Angels would adapt well in today’s enviroment. It should go more international through. Terrorism, Drug cartels, Human Trafficking are a few subjects it could cover. The girls should be more athletic, but still beautiful. Charlie should have ties to the CIA as well as being a multi international playboy who is never seen. Boslie should be updated to have CSI investigation techinques. Yeah, I am all in.
If they do resort to yet another remake, the main charaters would have to be exceptional for this show to last.
I absolutely agree. The show will never work without exciting modern “detectives” and really good mysteries. Can’t see that happening.
