Rachelle Lefevre Skips 'New Moon' Premiere

Contrary to her earlier plans, Rachelle Lefevre did not attend the 'New Moon' premiere last night. She was Victoria in 'Twilight' and 'New Moon' but was replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard for 'Eclipse.' Here's what Rachelle tweeted:
2 fans at the premiere: w/ Honey in hospital & being fired from Eclipse tonight was just 2 emotional 4 me & I couldn't manage it. So sorry
According to Us Weekly, Honey is Rachelle's dog.
The formal reason for Rachelle's firing was a scheduling conflict, according to the studio, Summit Entertainment. Understandably, Rachelle wasn't too pleased about it.
"I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria," Lefevre said. "I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules.
"My commitment to [indie flick] Barney's Version is only 10 days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse. Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap," Lefevre continued.
On one hand, the opportunity for exposure at the 'New Moon' premiere was great, but I can understand Rachelle's decision to stay away. Hopefully Honey will make a full recovery!

She got screwed over by Summit and I feel bad for her.

well that sucks for her in being fired after filming the two movies.

Bryce Dallas Howard > Whoever she is. Crappy situation, but that's the way the meatball bounces.

Bryce is Ron Howard's daughter :o)

Oh yeah, this I know. All the better. Creepy personal fact: all of Ron Howard's kids' middle names are the location where they were conceived. Bryce Dallas Howard. Get it?

I get it more than you know :o)
Why would she go? As a matter of fact she shouldn't even watch it. Why replace her? Not cool at all.

They replaced her because she lapsed 10 days into filming because she was busy filming something else. Why should she hold back production for 10 days because she has other things to do? I'm sure many of you know how much it costs per day to film, so this shouldn't be like trying to figure out brain surgery. A contract is a contract and if you value your position you don't mess with it.

Victoria is a bigger character in Eclipse but not nearly as big a character as, say, Bella... Summit could have worked with her on the 10 days. I LOVED her as Victoria and am not thrilled at all that Summit decided to recast-- what about consistency? Isn't that why Summit decided not to recast the role of Rosalie after fans had trouble accepting a blonde Nikki Reed?

We saw her for MAYBE 3 minutes in Twilight. In New Moon, she is more a thought, a fear in Bella's mind than anything else and then, again, she is seen for just a few minutes. This is not a actress whose portrayal made or broke this film. It could have been done by anyone and I'm not going to lose sleep because she has been replaced. Obviously she can get other work, hence her allowing her other contract to take precedence.

It isn't Summit's job to "work with" the actors. They sign the paychecks, they get to call the shots.

Here, here!
I liked Rachelle as Victoria. She does have that fierce look, where as Bryce she is more boring looking. I would've preferred Rachelle but it is what it is. Btw, Rosalie is is described as perfection of beauty and Nikki... naaah she wasn't right for it. And dyed hair even worse. She just wasn't right for the role.
