Will Ferrell Named 'Most Overpaid Celebrity' According To Forbes Magazine

Will Ferrell has topped a list of the Most Overpaid Stars. The 'Elf' actor and comedian topped the annual list by Forbes magazine, which calculated how much moviemakers earn per dollar paid to their lead actor.

After the last couple of funnyman Will's films - 'Semi-Pro' and 'Land of the Lost' - bombed at the box office, his rate of return has dropped to $3.29 for every dollar of Will's fee.

Just so you understand how LOW that really is - Shia LaBeouf was named as the Best Actor for the Buck in August, earning studios an average of $160 for every dollar he was paid.

HOLY SMOKES!

Behind Will on the Most Overpaid list was British actor Ewan McGregor, while Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson all made the top ten.

Full list here:

1. Will Ferrell
2. Ewan McGregor
3. Billy Bob Thornton
4. Eddie Murphy
5. Ice Cube
6. Tom Cruise
7. Drew Barrymore
8. Leonardo DiCaprio
9. Samuel L. Jackson
10. Jim Carrey

Any surprises here?

Yes, totally surprised that Ewan McGregor is even on the list. Of all those mentioned on the list, he has the most talent. Maybe it's the projects he picks. I guess I'm a little surpised about Leo Dicaprio as well. He's not my favorite but it seems like a lot of people really like him. No one else on the list surprises me, they are all over-rated, with the exception of Ewan McGregor.

Maybe 'cause of the volume of projects they do? It's not like Leo and Ewan always do big blockbusters; they do smaller, Indie-type flicks as well that don't have near the promotion and the public does not have access to them like the big budget movies. That's my guess. Useless list because of it. They should have used movies with a budget of over thirty million or something.

Doesn't that explain why they are overpaid? If it's not big budget, maybe they should be paid less...

From last year's Forbes ranking, "To compile our list, we looked at each star's last three films that opened wide before Jan. 1 (in order to give each film time for a DVD release). We didn't count animated movies, supporting roles or anyone consistently earning under $5 million per movie."

Celebrities are overpaid period! Maybe not all but most of them are! I mean getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to show up at a club, if that's not overpaid then... Some getting millions of dollars worth of endorsement for products they don't even use for themselves (does Beyonce really use Loreal hair products?). And don't even mention the pay they get from "acting". So overpaid, overrated, over everything....

Ewan McGregor is not British. He's Scottish! Everyone knows that!

I like Will Ferrell a lot too, all his movies make me laugh, although I admit I did not see Land of the Lost.

I don't know how much Ewan McGregor makes so it would be hard to say whether he's overpaid or not. I think he's a good actor. Will Ferrell CAN be hilarious...Elf was fantastic...but then he proceeded to make trashy, low-brow movies and try to pass it off as humor. Grow up and quit with the toilet humor. Currently, I agree he's overpaid.

Me too. Love Drew and her movies. Will is a funny person but his movies suck. That last good movie he did was Anchorman.
