George Clooney Gives Co-Star Anna Kendrick Dating Advice

Well, can you imagine anyone better? George Clooney apparently regarded his ‘Up in the Air’ co-star, Anna Kendrick, as a younger sister, so he bestowed some of his dating wisdom upon her.

“He had rules for me about dating and stuff. It was really sweet,” Anna Kendrick said at Saturday’s press day for their new comedy/drama Up in the Air, out Dec. 4.

“It’s funny, actually. A friend of his that was his age [48] was dating somebody younger than me. He thought that was fine. I was like, ‘What would you say to me if I were dating somebody your age?’ He said, ‘Oh no, absolutely not.’ ”

LOL! It is funny how men can have very different rules for sisters/female relatives than other women, isn’t it? Well, Anna will surely need it: between ‘Up in the Air’ and being in ‘New Moon,’ I’m sure she’s in for lots of attention.

The 24-year-old admits, “He had this kind of older brother thing with me.” And, her character, who has argumentative romantic tension with Clooney in the film, jokes, “Is he too old for me? Yes. George Clooney is too old for me.”

Yet Anna still seems to feel a lot of platonic affection for George.

“I loved yelling at George. I loved telling George off. I loved telling George that he was a 12-year-old. I was so looking forward to that scene almost to the extent that I was concerned that it was going to be a kind of indulgent thing … It’s like every ex-boyfriend I have ever had in the form of George Clooney on a boardwalk. [It] was a lot of fun.”

Well, let’s be honest: pretty much anything with George Clooney would be fun, wouldn’t it?

I do not get Clooney’s appeal to some women… He looks 20 years older then he really is.

  2. meme says:

he does not. george is aging like a NORMAL person and botoxing the lines out of his face. man is HOTNESS

  3. lara jane says:

This is a fact, not an opinion: You are wrong. You honestly think he looks like he’s 68? Really?!?!

A glaring example would be Brad Pitt. They’re buddies, right about the same age. Brad looks at least a few years older than George, he just hasn’t aged as well by a mile.

  4. DonnaJ says:

He should have given her some fashion advice as well.

  5. CapturingLife says:

I am pretty excited to see her in this movie. She is hilarious in the Twilight movies.

  6. DonnaJ says:

Me either, but I’d be down for a romp.

  7. OutInLeftField says:

George Clooney seems like he would be really fun to hang out with as a friend but I would never want to date him.

Awww the wonderful double standard !

  9. lara jane says:

Well, I can’t say that I blame him. I don’t mind 19-year-olds in general dating guys twice their age, but when it comes to my favorite niece, H E L L noooo she’d better not! :)

  10. OutInLeftField says:

Sure, as long as it didn’t screw up the friendship, kind of like a friends with benefits thing. I just think he’d be are really great guy to have as a friend.

I think both Clooney and Brad have aged poorly. Just recently, I was looking at some piuctures of my father from when he was in his 40′s (around the time I was born). He could have passed for Clooney’s son (they look alike, too ;o) )! When my father was in his 60′s (he died at 69), he looked remarkably close to the way Clooney looks today.
BTW: there is nothing wrong in itself with the way he is aging… However, my observation is that I do not find him even remotely attractive… I guess, if I were an older woman (60 plus), maybe?

Well, there’s a story that’s been floating around about George for years (I first heard it in the 90′s); according to the story, he fell in love with a beautiful girl with brown hair & eyes, who broke his heart & married someone else & disappeared (she is not famous btw). Supposedly, this is why he always picks women who look alike, they look like “her” in some way, but since they’re not his perfect girl from the past, he always dumps them in the end.

  13. Cat123 says:

I heard the same story several times but it always implied the woman was Cindy Crawford.

  14. Sally15 says:

No no, the way I’ve always heard it, from people who claim to know him and/or worked with him, was that the woman was not in the business at all, but worked someplace that GC used to frequent. She was also supposedly very religious and moral & the idea is that he picks women that remind him of her physically, but will do whatever he wants, & he never falls in love with them cuz they’re not his perfect mystery girl. It makes sense psychologically. I also heard that his wife (early 90′s) resembled her, but not as pretty. I first started hearing this in the early or mid 90′s which would predate his Cindy/Rande thing. Besides, I don’t see how he could keep up a close friendship for so long if he really was madly in love with his bf’s wife. It’s probably a coincidence that his current squeeze looks like Cindy in some pix. Of course, the other story that goes around here is that he’s gay & these women are beards.

yup, he would be fun to hang out with.
