Nelly Furtado Wants To Age Gracefully

Nelly Furtado has blasted Madonna over her reluctance to age naturally.

The 30-year-old ‘Maneater’ singer insists she won’t try to make herself appear younger in order to boost her career and would rather enjoy tea and biscuits than undertake a grueling exercise regime.

“I am not ready to adjust physically, just to be marketable. My sell-by date will run out eventually.

“Unlike Madonna, I wouldn’t be willing to do Pilates round the clock, just to slow down the deterioration of my body. I prefer to sit in the kitchen, drink tea and eat biscuits.”

Nelly – who is married to sound engineer Demacio Castellon and has a six-year-old daughter, Nevis, from a previous relationship - took a two-year break after she finished promoting her 2006 album ‘Loose’ and says she was enjoyed having the time to lead a more normal life. She explained to Germany’s Petra magazine:

“After the tour I was terribly exhausted and had to find a way back to a healthy routine. I cooked chicken soup for my family and just enjoyed everyday life. The small things that make you happy are important to me.”

I'm all for people wanting to age gracefully, but what do you think about Nelly bringing up Madonna in her reasoning? Low blow?

I don't know if it was meant as a low blow. It sounds like just a casual remark where she's comparing herself to Madonna and showing how she's a bit more laid back in her approach to aging.

Even if it is a low blow... GO NELLY! It's nice when famous people acknowledge the fact that they are human. And that they will be old one day

Not a low blow, just a healthy approach to her career. She realizes that she is going to grow old. Wish she had brought up Tony Bennett's career - he is still out there and has adjusted his vocal approach accordingly. But then again, women over a certain age, unless you are Madonna, aren't relevant.

I adore her and who the hell would want to look like Madonna anyway? Her arms are enough to many anyone with a cast iron stomach be ill.

I agree. Those arms make me *shudder* just thinking about them.

I don't think it's a low blow. as for Madonna, I wish she would just go away - her music sucks and it would be nice if she retired.

People say they're going to age gracefully until they wake up one morning, look in the mirror and see something they don't like. Good for her, but she's only 30. I'd like her to answer that question again in 10 years.

Give her 20yrs and I'll bet she's singing a different song about 'aging gracefully'. very easy to preach about at 30yrs!!!!!
BTW could she put ANY more makeup on... ekkk
