Zac Efron doesn’t see himself as an action star. Maybe he feels it would be too much of a change since he first became famous as one Disney’s ‘High School Musical’ star?
“I would love to try an action film at some point, but not too soon. I think that can be a kiss of death. There’s got to be a real role that I can bring something unique and specific to, a way for me to do it believably. Until then, I think it would just come across as weird.”
One actor he admires now (but not always) is Leonardo DiCaprio.
“I think Leonardo DiCaprio’s done a great job. I was dead set against the guy when I was growing up, kind of force-fed his image from ‘Titanic’. Since then, through very hard work and incredible performances, he’s done a complete 180. Now he’s one of my favorite actors. He’s at the top of his game.”
Zac sounds like he’s very committed to becoming a serious actor. He’s even decided to delay finishing college.
“I know at some point I will go back and study, but at this point I’m definitely focusing on working as hard as I can on film.
“I’ve always wanted to do Broadway. Finding that right role is a challenge. I wouldn’t want to just do it to do it. I would want to make sure it’s something special.”
It’ll be interesting to see how Zac’s career develops.

i doubt anyone sees him as an action hero lol. never seen him act but i can already imagine.

He did that movie 17 again, which was another teen thing, but i don’t think he’s gonna settle for HSM, he’s so young he has time to build a career (haven’t seen HSM but in 17 i think he did an ok job even if the movie itself wasn’t all that). I hate his comment on Di Caprio though. I mean maybe he wasn’t as famous from as early age, but i feel like Zac doesn’t have the credibility to judge Leo’s path just yet. Then again it’s personal taste i guess.
I thought he did a great job in 17 Again. He actually ‘acted’ in that film and it wasn’t half bad! He just needs to start taking ‘man’ roles instead of ‘teen’ roles.

I don’t see him as an action star either. I don’t really see him as a star or an actor at all, just one of those tween guys the little girls like. Has he even been in anything besides HSM?

Am I the only one who thinks he and vanessa have broken up? THey are never together and vanessa seems to be laying low…
And I actually do think Zach could have a career beyond high school musical. Sadly, I don’t think vanessa or any of the other ones can.
