Oprah Winfrey may not end ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ until 2011, but people are already talking about possible replacements. Paula Abdul is ready to step up and would like to start her own talk show within two to three years.
“I have really great ideas,” Abdul told “Extra” Monday from her cousin’s new store, Tweak 99.
“[My show] would be fun and quirky and it would be insightful,” she said. “It would be fun to jam with the band and have amazing guests and introduce amazing different formats on the show.
“I feel I would be really good at it. I have the ability to connect with people on a level,” Abdul explained. “I’ve proven to pierce the heartstrings, but also to be celebratory and bring out the best in people.”
However, Paula calls Oprah “a phenomenon.”
“[Oprah] broke barriers and let the path for other women to be empowered.”
She added, “Like ‘American Idol,’ there’s a place and time that makes history. That’s Oprah.”

Paula is a koo-koo bird so maybe the entertainment factor of that would make people tune in. However, I can’t help thinking that she is definitely on drugs every time I hear her talk so I’m not sure how she would keep it together or have normal conversations on her show.

Agreed. I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than watch her try to form a thought. She is one of the most annoying people on television. She should have stuck to choreography/dance.
