Jaden Smith Is The Next Karate Kid

Will Smith must be so proud of his son! Will’s youngest son, 11 year old Jaden Smith, is co-staring alongside Jackie Chan in the remake of the 1984 classic The Karate Kid.

I trained every day for four months with Master Wu [the film's fight coordinator],” Jaden, 11, tells PEOPLE as he takes on his first leading role as an American boy named Dre Parker who moves to China. “We did a lot of stretching.”

Jaden was so dedicated to mastering those high kicks that even Jackie Chan was impressed with him!

“He took the training very seriously. I was very impressed with him.”

“Jaden had a lot of respect for me as his teacher, even off the set,” says Chan. “He is professional as many adult actors who have been in the business for years.”

And what exactly is Jackie teaching 11 year old Jaden?

“Jackie taught me to ask, ‘My left or camera left?’” says Jaden on learning the important directions of acting in front of the movie camera. “That helped.”

Jaden’s behavior around the home has also started to change.

“His dad told me that Jaden had changed,” says Chan. “When he takes his shoes off, he doesn’t throw them in the corner, but puts them away neatly!”

Well I guess that’s a great way to learn a lesson – right alongside Jackie Chan!

haaaaa will smith (drawing little hearts on paper)

  2. OutInLeftField says:

He is too young for the role and I have to agree that the only way he got the role was because of who is dad is, which is a shame because now the movie is going to be ruined with wrong casting. The kid may have talent but he’s way too young for this role.

i hope he want be another loud mouth pain in the ass, like his father, and the mother, o boy, is a man

As you can see, this pic is a year old. Also, it is kind of an unfair comparison to say he is too young. Ralph Macchio was like 21 when he filmed this movie playing a young teenager.

The part is TOO young. Better? It is beyond lame that they are remaking this movie and even worse they are making the lead teenage role and teenage storyline SO young! It should NOT be about an 11 year old boy! It was about a 17 year old and all the struggles that a 17 year old goes through! Dating, peer pressure, etc, etc…..it is so STUPID that the story will know revolve around a kid!

Every clip I’ve ever seen of this kid shows that he’s so damned arrogant and full of himself. He just comes across as a total elitist brat. I guess the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree, and for that I blame more the mother than the father.

  7. Scruffy says:

I HATE remakes. (Well most anyway. )

  8. bgduckie_01 says:

  9. Prit says:

Dear Jaden, I saw the Karater kid when i was 15, now i am 30. Your kicks, stanza and kattas are good. I like the promo plus the concept of the film and the music is good too. Best of luck.

I’d like to know if he would have gotten the part if he wasn’t Will Smith’s son.

  23. papyrus says:

Nope, what a shame a good movie is going to get ruined. The only other movie this kid was part of was playing being the son of his own father-what a stretch.

    He is not real!
Bad parents – payed his kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  28. KissKiss says:

This movie is going to be terrible! Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi) died 4 years ago. A Karate Kid movie is not a Karate Kid movie without him. I have never been more offended by a remake!

  29. Ninni says:

This will be a dull movie and i agree he’s too young for this role, but i gotta say they are a darn beautiful family.

  30. vajina says:
