Does The World Have It Out For The Simpson Family?

Joe Simpson says the world wants his family to fail. That’s a pretty bold statement isn’t it?

No matter how hard his daughters work, Joe believes that everyone just wants to see them fall down. He tells Us Weekly magazine:

“We as a family are under a lot pressure. People want to make us look bad and want us to fail.”

Even when Ashlee Simpson was fired from ‘Melrose Place’, Joe says it wasn’t a big deal.

It was never a loss. The world says whatever it says. The world, again, always wants to make it look like we’re failures but we’re really just a family that works hard.”

“My children look at ups and downs and rise up above it all and remain strong… We’re just normal people, and we always try to be who we say we are.”

Is there some truth to what Joe is saying? The media does have it out for Jessica.

ummm yeah….the problem with that Joe is that you can SAY you are ANYTHING…..and people will see through the lies. how about actually being the type of person you are so fond of saying that you are?? it is hard for me to believe anything this so called preacher says when he is totally bringing the creepy-i-check-out-my-daughters-boobs-vibe.

I have never understood the hate for Jessica. She comes off so sweet. I think she tries hard and I actually like most of what she does. I wish people would just give her a break.

  3. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

You have to have thick skin to be in show biz. Maybe the Simpson family should retire.

  4. meme says:

i wish someone would teach jessica how to wear clothes that flatter her body. she looks like a silver sausage ready to burst.

He has a point but it’s so obvious that his girls just try too hard and they really don’t have much to work with. Of the two, Ashley at least displays a little bit of talent but Jessica is pretty much just a blonde with big boobs. I’m sure they ARE just a regular family and want to be happy and successful but perhaps Joe should go back to preaching.

I think they’ve all made themselves targets by opening their mouths and uttering nonsense.

  7. bgduckie_01 says:

    they’re just easier targets.

I was at the Orange Bowl when Ashlee Simpson ruined the halftime show–the whole place booed and were disgusted–watch it on You Tube. I remember the pathetic excuse she had for lip synching on SNL–sitting on the phone with TRL with her dad wispering in her ear telling her what to say…they are a fking joke.

  9. skeri says:

Jess kind of made herself a target by playing up the dumb blonde persona, it got her attention but then as soon as that attention turns bad, Joe wants to spin it around again. It must be hard to deal with, but they did bring that attention to themselves.

  10. papyrus says:

the “world” really doesnt care about them. he wants his nontalented daughters to make it big so his ego can have a pedestal. same with the Kardashians, is not that people hate them is just that nobody likes them because they have NOTHING to offer.

  11. Riviera says:

I was just about to say the same thing!

  12. OutInLeftField says:

Once again, I totally agree with you.

  13. audrey says:

    I too agree totally

    Perfectly stated!

I really find it hard to feel sorry for people who work that hard for the sole purpose of becoming famous and exploiting every opportunity to be seen on stage, TV, movies, and anywhere else they go. When these same people whine about misconceptions based on the media, I actually get a bit angry. Come now, Simpsons. Give us a much needed break, and maybe we can give you one.

  16. JesseD says:

I disagree with the above. I think there are media darlings, and there are media scapegoats. J-lo has long been a media darling and she can’t act or sing AT ALL, has played up the spoiled diva for years, and yet is pretty much always portrayed in a positive light. I don’t understand the constant vitriol aimed at Jessica Simpson. Sometimes it feels like ya’ll are kicking a puppy. Lay off.

  17. kimmytoo says:

I couldnt agree with you more.

  18. switchstance5 says:

I actually agree with Joe here. The media really just haggers on Jessica and Ashlee – they get a lot of flack and not a lot of credibility.

  19. maiah912 says:

I do think this family gets hounded a lot. However, there are other families who get it too, like the Kardashians. I think it’s just part of being famous.

  20. Anonymous82 says:

I wouldn’t compare the Simpsons with the Kardashians. Jessica was a pop artist. Believe it or not, once upon a time she was a singer. Ashlee started as an actress on 7th Heaven. So these people had “legit” showbiz career at first. The Kardashians? First their father was famous for defending OJ Simpson; Kim Kardashian was just a side kick of Paris Hilton at first and then had a sex tape out; and don’t even talk about the other members of their family. Jessica and Ashlee seem to try hard to be recognized for their showbiz effort. Jessica drifted to country music (that’s trying to me!), Ashlee picks projects on Broadway, TV shows. Whereas the Kardashians? Well they’re getting paid for making appearances, being on covers of tabloids on purpose (a photoshoot, can you believe it, a tabloid shoots them for covers). It’s just sad to see famewhores win in our society.

  21. Jenie says:

I think society (“the world”) in general enjoys watching others fail. watching others fail distracts a person from their own failures and shortcomings. it’s mean girls but on a larger level. any person that tells you that they have never secretly smiled when someone close to them has failed at something is lying.

  22. KissKiss says:

Does the world have it out for the Simpson family?

Of course! Why on earth are these people famous anyway? They lack the talent and intelligence to maintain a normal, succesful career like.. well.. let’s just say Uma Thurman. If they really were talented, the media would actually write about that and not about their failed relationships or weight.
