ABC Cancels Two More Of Adam Lambert’s Appearances

Adam Lambert announced on twitter that ABC has cancelled two more of his appearances: one on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and one on New Year’s Eve.

Yes, sadly friends, ABC has cancelled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE. :( don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat.

Maybe he did go a little too far on the AMAs, given the wide audience that show has, but doesn’t this seem like overkill? I mean, ABC can simply stipulate in their contracts with Adam that he has to stick to his rehearsed performance or threaten to withhold some of his fee if his actions are deemed inappropriate.

What do you think: is ABC over-reacting or are they right to cancel his performances on their shows?

Here comes my 2-cents same sex kissing might be a little uncomfortable for some. Simulated oral sex on network TV, much too much. He says “he got a little too carried away”. Yeah that about sums it up.

  2. Manimal says:

It’s network TV, and they can do whatever they want. You know the contract states that. And to compare it to the Britney/Madonna/Christina thing is ludacris; that was on MTV, a cable channel. They don’t adhere to the same rules.

  3. KissKiss says:

It’s not like he had some odd nipple decoration like Miss Jackson…

  4. Jeannified says:

I think this is ridiculous and serious overkill! It’s gonna come back to bite them in the ass!

  5. papyrus says:

He had the opportunity to do a great performance and show his talent, instead he used his time to do a cheap performance. We are in no obligation to love whatever these so called artists want to throw at us.

  6. Anonymous says:

Oh, no. They aren’t overreacting. Not at all. They need his time slot for more coverage of Tiger Woods and his multiple mistresses. Oh the morality! Hypocrites.

  7. Anonymous says:

    Ha!! Exactly!

  8. Anonymous says:

Nope. not an overreaction. this dude is gross. I don’t watch ABC anyway but if he wants to get fellatio and kiss men, then he can do soft porn on HBO or something. I’m sure that they have room for him. I don’t wanna see this crap so I won’t be tuning in anyway. lol. Why are we talking about him?? The only reason why he gets attention is because he is openly gay and “over the top” (yeah right)

  9. ebony says:

    one word: homophobes.

  10. Anonymous says:

I don’t think they are overreacting. He showed them one performance in rehearsal, saying that’s what he was going to do live…and then did something completely different on live television. All he did was shoot himself in the foot by proving that networks can’t trust what he will do on live TV. We can’t compare him to the Madonna/Britney/Christina incident because that was on cable. There’s a different audience and those stations are little looser on what they show. And he’s making excuses by blaming it on the FCC. Yeah, I’m sure they are mad, but he’s the one that didn’t hold up his end of the deal. Kissing a guy is one thing…simulating oral sex, flipping the bird and dropping f-bombs are a completely different monster all together. He was on American Idol for crying out loud! He should know that his audience is on the younger side and if he doesn’t, then he’s a complete idiot with his career in the toilet before he even begins.

how about you keep the name calling to yourself? not everyone thinks it’s ok for gays-lesbians-transgendered-alienhybrids-loud/prouds to flaunt their lifestyles in our faces. it used to be “the love that dare not speak it’s name” and it has morphed into “the love that won’t shut up”, and some have wearied of it all. let us live, too.

  12. Sally15 says:

Well said! Why doesn’t the pop culture world talk about people who can actually sing or dance? I saw his disgusting AMA performance and have listened to a couple of songs from his album, and I just don’t get it. I don’t like his voice or singing style at all. Offkey and/or screeching. Yuck. If he wasn’t ridiculously flamboyant, he wouldn’t be famous at all.

  13. luanne says:

It was wrong for adam to do all he did on AMA–it was ABC for god sake!!–not mtv or vh1—I dont want to see that male or female–just sing your stupid song.!

  14. Anonymous says:

No they are not – these singers need to no their place. When you are new in the game – be cool. I can see if he’s been around for years, but he’s new – slow down. Now he will learn – dont try to be lady gaga – your a guy things will always be different when it comes to sex.

  15. elaine123 says:

I am sorry but what you just said in response to Ebony and the way you said proves that you are indeed a homophobe. If instead you had said “not everyone thinks it’s ok for PEOPLE to flaunt their lifestyles in our faces”, then you may have had a point, but sorry, you are a homophobe. If you don’t mind saying so, then say it. Don’t try to hide behind an argument that makes no sense.

  16. Anonymous says:

He shouldn’t have put on such a slutty performance..

  17. Jack says:

So girl on girl is ok but not guy on guy? If he had done this on MTV, ABC and every other news station would have covered it, so please tell me what the difference is between viewing it on MTV and viewing it on ABC? Parents allowed their children to watch the Madonna/Brittney/Christina thing without knowing what was going to happen. Its not like they put up a bulletin that said “and now there’s going to be some kissing, so cover your children’s eyes” people were p1ssed about that too when it happened.
His performance was mild compared to the things even the children in my neighborhood say and I live in a nice neighborhood.

call me what you like. my problem with the gay community is that they stopped seeking acceptance a long time ago — they got it. they no longer seek acceptance, they want *validation* and that’s something that will simply never happen. their chosen lifestyle just isn’t as good as any other, but they’ll never stop pushing for it, even if it means subverting education in kindergarten, or BJ’s on TV. sorry if you disagree, but my opinion won’t change no matter what slur you choose to throw out there.

  19. Anonymous says:

they don’t want to see guy kissing another guy but they do support men hitting women!!

  20. Monica says:

He wears so much makeup that you could ice a cake with it.

  21. elaine123 says:

Pfft, you’re the one who has to live with yourself…good luck with that.

  22. ChloeCullenLam says:

    ew this guys is gross

  23. testguy says:

I wish I knew what the hell was going on.

  24. luckystar says:

Over-reacting! Sure the AMA performance was a bit OTT, but it was after the water-shed. When Madonna, Britney and Christina kissed was there an over reaction like this? People need get over it now!

  25. femguide says:

I agree. There are far worse things than a little bit of sexuality in a performance. But I think they are reacting to a public response. It’s the public that is over reacting. Like it says in this article http://feministguidetohollywood.blogspot.com/

  27. femguide says:

i agree. they are totally over reacting. but it’s a reaction to the public reaction. the people who called in an complained about his performance. feministguidetohollywood.blogspot

  28. smp209 says:

totally agree! no one cared this much about madonna/britney/christina

  29. Anonymous says:

I’m sorry, but who cares about right-winged ABC/Disney anyway? It’s like Fox, not a good place to be.

  30. Anonymous says:

of course they’re overreacting, but you would have to be an idiot to expect any less from network television!!
the reality is there are multiple paths to choose in the entertainment industry and Adam Lambert chose the mainstream one, meaning he has to adhere to those standards! there are a million other “adam lamberts” ready to take over his spot, who are willing to follow these old fashioned rules, so why should ABC take another chance on him?

  31. meme says:

Let’s not put Glamberace in the same category as Madonna or Britney or Christina. He’s a thousand leagues beneath them.

  32. meme says:

I’m guessing some of you think there should be NO limits on what should be put on network television. A line has to be drawn somewhere or you’ll be seeing people naked playing Jeopardy or fvcking for real on some lame reality show.

  33. Anonymous says:

The line should be drawn against really god awful shows like The Middle.

  34. ashmeljer says:

what an odd picture. looks like his shades were added on later or something…..plus he wears ALOT of makeup

  35. NiazaDG says:

Well, I hope he learned his lesson with this one and edits himself appropriately in the future…

  36. bgduckie_01 says:

well that sucks for him. not a good way to start his music career.

  37. Anonymous says:

no, they aren’t overreacting, he’s a nobody. If he wants to have sex on TV, there’s the porn network.
