Julia Roberts Becomes An Ambassadress

Lancome decided to go with an icon for their next ambassadress, so they went with the original 'Pretty Woman,' Julia Roberts.

"By her remarkable personality and career, Julia Roberts is an emblematic woman of her time," said Youcef Nabi, president of Lancôme International, in a statement. "Her exceptional talent, her radiance and her strong commitments perfectly echo Lancôme's values. We are convinced she will embody the brand in the most sublime way possible."

I love Julia, but honestly, at my age, I pick the products I like, not because of who endorses them. If the product makes me look good, you could pick Medusa to endorse it, and I wouldn't care.

When I was a teenager I paid attention to this sort of thing but now, not so much. (Although I do pay attention if a controversial figure endorses something, so go figure :)

How about you: does a celebrity spokesperson for a beauty product make you more likely to try it?

not really, i just go with what i like. but i do have to admit that i remember certain products a little more just cuz a celebrity i recognize is the spokesperson.

I get influenced by the ads all the time to buy stuff and not so much for the celeb, but sometimes it helps too. In the end I buy what I like regardless of who is the face.

A celebrity endorsement means absolutely nothing to me when purchasing any product. In the first place, I never have believed they used the product and would say anything for a buck and secondly, I use what works best for me and generally on trying new things it is by word of mouth from friends who have tried it

like all the celebs who endorse make-up that you can buy at the pharmacy. like they really use those products. you know they're spending their money on high end stuff, and get the low end stuff for free as part of the deal.

I get really resentful when I see some actress or model who is barely out of her teens trying to sell me wrinkle cream. And I find that I steer away from products because I don't like the person they hired to do an ad campaign...like Ferria by Loreal who had Beyonce in their ads.

Not in the least. Sometimes it sways me the other way. I can't stand celebrity endorsements. I'm much more likely to listen to Paula Begoun and read BeautyPedia about my skincare options than I am to a celebrity.

I notice the celebs but it doesn't make me buy the product. For one thing, I am skeptical that the celeb endorsing the product even USES it.

Psh, no one tells me what to buy. Especially a big-headed celebrity who doesn't even know me.
