Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, reportedly was released from the hospital this morning after being rushed there yesterday afternoon.
There are rumors Alexa attempted suicide by overdosing on pills, but those rumors are unconfirmed. A friend of Alexa’s said she had only taken a homeopathic antihistamine called Traumeel.
I don’t know what happened, but regardless, I’m glad to hear Alexa’s improved enough to be released.
This does make me think about homeopathic treatments, though. I know some people think they are far healthier than prescription medications, but it’s easy to forget that they can be just as powerful as prescriptions!

Awwwwww she is not fugly!!!! Granted she does not take from her mother but I think she is a pretty girl. She has her mothers smile which is great. I think alot of people compare her to her mom who is still stunning BTW and that is not a fair comparison. She is a beautiful girl.
after some awkward teenage years, she’s definitely come into her own. alexa is gorgeous! i feel bad for her though, probably always compared to her mother, who by the way, is bland apple pie in comparison to her beautiful stunning daughter. why do people say christie brinkley is so beautiful? she’s pretty but BORING!!! alexa is much more beautiful. she does look like her dad, who is butt ugly but alexa is gorgeous.

There are TONS of people without jobs and no way to save their homes or feed their kids right now and this person who is very wealthy and has 2 parents with jobs who are supportive etc tries to kill herself? I get so tired of the poor me. I feel much sorrier for those who are losing everything after working their butts off their whole lives. And just as an FYI- I have a job. A good job so I am not doing poor me.

I am a big believer and user of homeopathic remedies and have been for years. I give them to my children as well. I won’t refuse medicine if it’s needed, but do everything in my power before going to the doctor and that includes homeopathy and herbs. Just do the research. The stuff works and what C. says is absolutely true – they are so much safer than most of the prescribed/OTC medicines out there. I believe the use of homeopathic treatments helped my son who suffered from RSV as a baby when the prescribed treatments were only making him worse.
Good God does she look Billy Joel! And that means that she is drop-dead…..fugly! Poor thing! I would be depressed as well! It would suck SO much to have the most beautiful woman on the planet (still) and look NOTHING like her! Yikes. And yes, people will hate me for saying this. I am sure she is a nice and sweet girl (she has a great voice) but darn is she fugly!

I’d wagger that I have far more experience and knowledge than you. Her problem is between her ears not traumeel.
She might’ve had an allergic reaction to it. Just like with anything, no two people’s bodies’ react the same way to things. Especially with remedies derived from herbs/roots, etc… , people may not realize there’s something in there they could be allergic to. For instance, people who have allergies to the daisy family should use caution when trying Echinacea for the first time. Everyone, but especially those with allergies should use caution when trying anything they’re not familiar with. Just an FYI.

i have used traumeel – to reduce the inflammation and pain in my forearms from hours of typing. that and a little bit of stretching worked like a charm.
homeopathic medication is actually just H2O,nothing else is possible after that much dilution of the solution with water.
It is ridiculous to say the Traumeel could have caused her hospitalization. It is so safe. Please don’t put fear into people’s minds. Homeopathics are far safer than prescribed and over the counter western meds. I have used and researched homeopathics for years and the suggestion that such a benign remedy would cause harm is appalling.

It is not to be confused with herbs which can be toxic in high doses. This report is irresponsible and should be corrected as people need to be educated that homeopathy is not the same as any other form of treatment, AND IT REALLY WORKS. I JUST SAVED MY CAT’S LIFE WITH HOMEOPATHY.

Let’s add too that Traumeel is NOT an antihistamine. I really wish people would get the facts straight before causing such ridiculous alarm. Homeopathy is amazing! Educate yourselves people.
It’s not possible to have a ‘side effect’ or adverse reaction from using homeopathy. That’s the beauty of the treatment – pregnant women, the elderly, immuno-compromised and children can all benefit from the use, without concern of a negative outcome.
Traumeel is an effective medication for acute injuries and inflammation of the musculoskeletal system, that does not include side effects that common ‘pills’ would.
KissKiss – don’t stray from homeopathy too soon… there is such a huge number of remedies out there, that finding the right one that addresses all of your concerns often takes a little bit of time
Give it a second chance and you might be surprised!

I’m a skeptic when it comes to homeopathis treatments. I’ve used homeopathic drops and pills in the past. But when I stopped taking birth control pills, I really felt better. Never used that homeopathic stuff again.

I was a bit miffed by the bit about her friend saying “she had only taken a homeopathic antihistamine.” Why is the friend talking to the media at all? It smacks of, “Ooh, let me show you how in the know I am!”

Traumeel its not and antihistamine, it is an anti-inflammatory anaglesic used for muscular pain inflammation, sports injuries and bruising, dosage4 is 1 pill dissolved unsder tongue 3 times a day.
I think Traumeel is a muscle balm. A friend sent me some when I hurt my back. You rub it on. I don’t think it’s something someone could ingest or OD on.
From my understanding one of the issues with homeopathic drugs is that often times they are just dilutions of things to the point where they are basically water and considered to be harmless and don’t require federal tests to make sure they are effective or even safe. But then sometimes they have actual medicine in them and can cause actual reactions and those don’t often get screened properly either.
