Colin Farrell’s been keeping a secret from us all – the handsome actor can SING! His hotness factor just jumped a few more points, right? Colin will play a country music star in the new movie ‘Crazy Heart’. Turns out he surprised everyone with this secret talent, including his agent.
“No one had heard him sing until he recorded with [composer and producer] T-Bone, but we assumed if he took the role that he probably could pull it off or he wouldn’t have accepted the role,” Crazy Heart producer Judy Cairo told us last night at the movie’s L.A. premiere. “His agent didn’t even know he could sing.”
Colin stars alongside Jeff Bridges (who is the main star of the film). Turns out both fellas can carry a tune quite well.
“They both have great voices,” Cairo said. “In fact, it was Colin’s second day working with us and we brought him in and threw him onstage in front of 12,000 people and said, ‘Sing!’ He was a trouper. He did an amazing job.”
But Colin was keeping one other secret – the fact that he was in this movie at all! When I went to IMDB, I couldn’t find his name listed and thought that was a bit odd. Turns out he asked for his name to be left out of the credits! The filmmakers did want his role to be a surprise but Colin also didn’t want to take the spotlight off of Jeff!
“Obviously this is Jeff’s movie and…if Colin was more in front of it, Jeff would have to share the spotlight a little bit. He wanted to give kudos and credit to Jeff.”
Jeff’s performance is already generating Oscar buzz. But he’s not letting that go to his head.
“I don’t want to count any chickens,” Bridges told us, “but it’s great to get these good reviews we’ve been getting. This film doesn’t have the millions of dollars to spend on promotions, so it’s great that we’re getting the film out there.”
Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Jeff’s love interest in the film. Check out the thumbnails to see what she wore to the premiere last night!
Will you check this movie out? I’d heard so little about it, it was barely a blip on my radar but now I’m truly interested in checking it out. The reviews are great!

Didn’t he sing I Fought The Law for some Irish movie?
Irish poeple are very artistic in general, so it doesn’t surpirse me at all that he can rock a mic:-) . They are very musical nation.

Yes, he sang “I Fought the Law” in Intermission if I’m not mistaken. It plays in the end credits.
Colin is the man!
Forget the old cheesy Lusty Leprechaun tabloid stories. This man has turned over a new leaf and is coming into his own! Not just referencing this small role in “Crazy Heart” that is getting buzz, but his portfolio as a whole. He is so under-appreciated! This man is not just a pretty face or a ladies man. For the 30-40 year old set of actors, he is in the top five best – no ifs, ands or buts about it.
Do your thing Mr. Farrell. Your still young and I know for a fact there are some damn good projects that will blow poeple away coming up. Love ya’!
