If you didn’t see it then I’m sure you’ve heard of the scandal involving singer Adam Lambert at the AMA Awards. Now Adam is coming out and saying that he’s afraid fans won’t buy his album anymore.
He admits to being scared “That people won’t want to buy the rest of my music; that people will stop being interested. I think that’s my biggest fear.”
But Adam claims that he was just being himself.
“I thought it was Adam being Adam,” Allen, 24, gushes to reporters at Madison Square Garden, “Obviously, he couldn’t do that stuff on Idol, and so you’re getting to see the real Adam now.”
But it sounds like he’s trying to do his best to not let the negativity affect him.
He will “continue being positive and try to live in the moment.”
Do you feel like this scandal has blown over yet or is it still on the hot seat?

Sorry ADM, I tried to see it, truly I did. My darling niece is a huge Adam fan & I listened to some his songs on her ipod, but they were all covers of other peoples songs & I thought the originals were better. I watched the AMA fiasco, and saw a clip or two of AI. My niece tells me he was in a Broadway musical. I might like him in that venue. I could see him there.

Since you’re such a fan of Glee, I’m surprised you didn’t know that Lea Michelle is a big time Adam Fangirl. In every interview she does she talks about how amazing it would be if she could sing with him, and is pushing very hard for him to be on the show, which is likely to happen in the spring. He may not be your cup of tea, but denying he has astonishing talent is disingenuous at best. Obviously from your comment you haven’t listened to his new album at all…your loss. It’s phenomenal. If you’d like to see him in a Broadway venue, just search YouTube: Adam Lambert Is Anybody Listening. It has over a million and a quarter hits…for good reason.

Having watched Glee does not make me an expert on the shows actors. How would I know, or why would I care, what their likes/dislikes are? Lea Michelle is amazing, and I think, the best female singer to come on the scene since Liza. She is also very young, as I imagine you are, and entitled to her opinion, as are you, and I & everyone else. That’s what blogs are for my dear. So we can all express our opinions. As far as it being “my loss” that I’m not an Adam fan, thanks for your concern, but my computer and indeed home, are crammed full of fabulous music of all kinds, and our home office walls are full of autographed pix and albums from some of the greatest singer/songwriter/musicians of my lifetime. A huge part of our family life revolves around music, so I can guarantee you, I know what I like. He can sing loudly, but I do not like the sound, tone, or style of his voice, (yes, I have listened to his latest) and I thought he was painfully offkey at the AMA’s. I’ve read similar (and worse) reviews of his singing all over the web. He’s hot right now, thanks to the boring AI show, and the fact that he plays the gay card so skillfully. Will it last? Time will tell. I don’t think a singer that flips off his audience deserves to have such loyal fans as you. (btw, you might want to look up the word “disingenuous”)

I don’t understand why haters stalk Adam – WTF? I stalk him because I can’t get enough of Adam the man and Adam the singer. The voice is fantastic – I’m addicted. His cd is the BEST. As a man Adam seems to be quite humble – everyone the works with him says great things about him.

Good points. Also, I don’t like being told constantly by him that the only reason I don’t want to buy his cd is because he’s gay. He was coy about being gay when he was on AI, thinking it would help him win; now, he uses it to claim that all criticism about him is only because he’s gay. Ridiculous.
This thread would be boring as hell if the only comments were: “I love Adam”, “He’s so great”, etc. You should be glad some of us drop in to spice things up for you. Learning to spar with people you disagree with is a helpful skill in life. That being said, I do think the posters on this website are all unusually nice. Mr. Lambert is lucky to have such a legion of nice young fans. Whether or not he deserves you all is another question.

I was thinking, “What is this guy?” He could do with less make-up. He even managed to look like Lisa Minelli. He appears to be self-absorbed, self-centered person enjoying his 15 minutes of fame. And, no, I don’t watch AI. Then my girl bought his album and one night she played it when we were having a romantic dinner. The song was “Soaked”. I was hooked. I asked her to play it again. The voice was mesmerizing. It managed to bring out the mood I was in. Then I heard “A Loaded Smile” and I couldn’t get enough of his songs. Now my gf even joked, “You’re not going gay on me, are you?” I admit that he used to put me off but now I look him up in the web to find out what this talented guy is up to. It is the voice, dammit!
Due to the scandal I became more interested in him and decided to buy some mp3 songs and I must say I like his music. I asid, let me see how this Adam Lambert sounds because I never watched American Idol and I liked wthat I heard.

Adam was fortunate to have AI exposure and then chose to be a smut peddler rather than a vocalist on AMAs. I hope his album fails and that he sinks into obsurity. The American public should start demanding at least a modicum of decency from pop performers.
One goof doesn’t change the fact that he’s not only as talented as others that have come from AI, but the most original. The two David’s, who sounded great, both had what i thought were pretty bland debut albums.

Adam’s album debuted at #3 with sales lower than originally predicted. I believe they predicted around 240K, & he sold 195,974 which is still good numbers. SoundScan Mediabase originally anticipated higher sales due to pre-orders from Amazon and all the hype. He had decent 1st week sales but in the 2nd week, he went from #3 to #22 and a 74% drop in sales of only 50,648 – more than anyone else on that list. The fact is, he only remained in top 20 for 1 week. However, I am sure his fans will continue to support him. It’s a tough business & lots of competition. Sales are usually high until mid January after people have used up their iTunes gift cards, etc. Then everyone starts seeing a huge drop in sales.
I doubt that Adam’s debut album is 2nd simply because he’s already been beat by Justin Bieber who just released his album (& after Lambert) & he seems to be what everyone is getting excited about & his debut album ALREADY sold over 400K and he’s picking up steam fast. Susan Boyle’s debut album has set a record in decades.
This article is total BS!! “OK” magazine distorted Adam’s answer to a question! Adam is selling just fine. He sold 250,000 albums in 2 weeks!!! He is the second highest selling debut album of the year!! Adam’s album is fantastic and it is going to go platinum in 6 to 9 months no doubt!!! Adam is mega talented, gorgeous, humble and had an adorable sense of humor. This whole AMA thing is just a bunch of BS!! Since when was America so free of sins?? Adam Rocks!!
Humble?!?! You’re joking, right? You know I think you’ve nailed my main problem with this guy. To me, I look at him, listen to him talk, and all I see is someone who is completely self-absorbed, and completely into himself.
Speaking as a big fan of Adam’s, I believe that his sales will be fine. He made a mistake, and it happens (not to mention, he’s apologized for it.) However, good music is just that–good music, and people will buy what they like.
If he doesn’t pull another AMA stunt, he’ll be fine. As for the “controversy”, I think it’s only a problem because the media won’t let it go.

I think the media has twisted that statement for hits. That doesn’t even remotely sound like something Adam would say. He has said that his fans are the best and very protective of him, he is absolutely right, we are! I believe only what comes out of his mouth! He is madly talented and his humanity is incredible! I love his cd FYE, it is very rare to find an album where almost all of the songs blow you away and this album does just that!
I still love him. The cd is good and he is so funny. I can picture him being my BFF, going shopping w/me. heehee

The actors and actesses on that show can ALL really sing & dance & some of them are incredible. Glee is amazing, has quirky people that cover every walk of life, gay, disabled, goody-two shoes, not goody-two-shoes, crazies, and yet doesn’t cross the line. You can watch the episodes online. Once again ABC showed how it cannot tolerate gay men. Lesbians are fine though! The more lesbians the merrier for them! On Barbara Walters special they showed the Madonna/Britney kiss and Lady Gaga humping a freakin’ whale!!!! and they cannot show Adam’s kiss???!! Yeah, it is soooooooooo good for kids to see animal pool sex, but a kiss between two men??! OH! NO!! Hide the kids!!
