Kelly Ripa shares in January’s Redbook how she and hubby, Mark Consuelos, keep their marriage strong and connected amid challenges of family and work.
“A date night for us is watching Top Chef,”
“A date night for us is getting our kids asleep before 9:30! It’s really just about checking in, asking how the other person’s day is, and cuddling up. It doesn’t have to lead to anything, although it usually does. But it doesn’t have to.”
She admits that the first year of marriage was really tough.
“The first year of marriage is so tough, and we fought constantly, these tiny things becoming big accusations,” she says. “Then we looked at each other one day and said, ‘We’re in this for the long haul, so let’s make it fun.’ ”
She says they still have their disagreements but divorce is not in their future.
“We argue, but we have an allegiance to each other, and we have beautiful children, and from what I hear, divorce sucks,” she says.
I’m sure it’s difficult to stay in tune with each other when schedules are insanely busy. Good for them for really working hard at making it work! You can check out her whole interview when the magazine hits the stand next Tuesday.

I had the misfortune of watching her show one morning with my grandmother. Does anyone notice the completely moronic faces that she makes? I wanted to put my foot through the television.
Donna: I think she does that to show how “smart and hip” she is, and how slow and old Regis is. To make her look good. I used to love her, now I watch about 1 time a month. It gets old. I was such a fan of her. Now, I’m getting tired of the ” oh look how cute I am” club. After seeing 2 shows while Regis was out….I’m thinking she (Gilman? ) is coaching us to accept Mark as permanent co-host. Live! WITH KELLY and MARK!

I agree with everything she said. She sounds very down to earth. My husband and I have been married for over 6 years & we do “date nights” at home sometimes after our son goes to bed. Marriage is hard in the real world, and I’m sure even harder in Hollywood! She looks beautiful as usual!

True that …Was so pretty and fresh, now looks haggard. Trying to hard to be tiny. Our 21 yr old daughter saw her about 6 mo (?) ago & actually cried out in shock at Kelly’s appearance… my God mom, is she sick? does she have cancer.
