Zoe Saldana Lets Her Geek Flag Fly

Zoe Saldana isn’t ashamed to admit it: she’s a geek. A very good looking geek, but a geek, nonetheless :) Between her role as Uhura in last summer’s ‘Star Trek’ and her role as Neytiri in ‘Avatar,’ Zoe’s becoming the new queen of science fiction.

“I loved stories that helped me escape, and those happened to be the stories that fall into the category of geekiness. So, therefore, I am a proud geek!”

Good for her! Zoe says she stays grounded with the help of her family and by focusing on her work.

“I became an actress to be in great movies, to work with amazing filmmakers,” she says. “And I think that’s how I want to leave a mark if I’m ever granted that opportunity.”

She sounds very humble. Hopefully she’s able to keep that humility as her star continues to rise (as I suspect it will).

Have you seen Zoe in either ‘Star Trek’ or ‘Avatar’? What do you think of her? Personally, I’m a fan :)

I’ve loved her ever since Center Stage. She’s an excellent actress, and I love that she’s a geek like me. Go and see Avatar in 3D it will likely move you, like it did me. I’m going again, and I never do that.
