INO Exclusive Interview With Alyson Hannigan

I got the opportunity to chat with the hilarious and adorable Alyson Hannigan, star of How I Met Your Mother, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the American Pie movies and she dished on reality television and what we can expect from the upcoming season of How I Met Your Mother.

First and foremost, what are you not obsessed with?

Reality television. It’s really bad because I’m an actress and reality television is taking our jobs so I probably shouldn’t be obsessed with it, but I am.

What’s your favorite reality show?

Right now I’m on a big Top Chef and cooking shows kick, I love those. But Amazing Race is probably my all time favorite reality show. You get to see the world and the stress of travel but you get to see it while you’re on your couch. I just love that show.

Can you give me any teasers for what we can expect for the rest of the season of How I Met Your Mother?

Our 100th episode is coming up [airing on Monday, January 11th] and it is going to be huge! We will get as close to the mother as we have ever been before and there’s also a musical number. Neil [Patrick Harris] is doing most of the singing and everyone else has a line or two. Jason [Segel] has two but Neil is doing most of the singing.

Do you think there’s any change of a Barney and Robin reunion?

I think that there probably will be. It seems unlikely that the two of them will stay apart because they’re just so perfect for each other in a not so perfect way.

Lily and Marshall have been married for a while now, do you think there’s a baby in their future any time soon?

I think they are defiantly considering it, I don’t know if it will happen soon. I think it would kind of get them in a bind, with the pregnancy. People would wonder why is Lily still in a bar if she’s pregnant, and then when the baby comes why are they in the bar with a kid so it kind of paints them into a corner and they spend a lot of time in that bar! But I think there are some great stories to tell when they do decide to take us into that area of their lives. Right now it’s just not where the characters are at. There’s a lot of drinking of that show, they drink a lot!

Do you and the rest of the cast know who the mother is?

No, we don’t know and I don’t think I’d want to know! A whole lot of people want to know who the mother is, and I’d hate to have that information and not be able to tell, that wouldn’t go so well for me. People would ask and I would be “Oh…well…I don’t know…” and my voice would get all high and squeaky, I’m not good at holding back secrets like that so I don’t want to know!
