A vampire role? How original!! Come on Sam – everyone else is doing it in Hollywood. PEER PRESSURE SAM! PEER PRESSURE.
Sam Worthington, best known for his role in ‘Avatar‘, is currently in negotiations to play the lead in ‘Dracula: Year Zero‘.
The project will reportedly be helmed by I, Robot director Alex Proyas for a summer 2011 release and will be a period picture tracing Dracula’s roots in Transylvania.
Now the question is whether or not the fans that spent $1+ billion dollars on ‘Avatar’ will give Dracula a shot just because Sam is connected to the movie. Is the studio banking on that?
And will Sammy sparkle? Because if sunlight hits his skin and I don’t see shine, I’m walking out of that theatre ASAP.

To whoever wrote this: “Real” vampires DO NOT sparkle! That’s just something idiotic made up by that author of Twilight.
Sam is hot, but he isn’t vampire material. Bela Lugosi did it almost 70 years ago, and he did a great job. No one will ever top his performance.
The “sparkling” vampire comment was a joke! It amazes me how often people with no sense of humor comment on articles that contain sarcastic, dry or deadpan humor. Sigh.

I haven’t seen Avatar yet but I loved Sam in Terminator. I think he’d make a great Dracula. I’m definitely with the other comments on this thread about being over the teeny bopper/sparkly vampire crap thats out now and hopefully future movies like this one will go back to the darker stories of it all.
