Victoria Beckham has been offered $40 million to design a luxury hotel in Dubai. I can’t believe the NUMBER is so high. She has no background in architectural design and I’m not so sure her name is strong enough for people to want to stay in the hotel because she worked on the layout.
The former Spice Girls singer was personally approached by Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum who asked her to lend her talents to the project after meeting Victoria and David when they vacationed in the Gulf last summer.
The hotel will be located on a fashion-themed island called Isla Moda off the Dubai coast, which is part of The World development – a man-made archipelago of 300 islands constructed in the shape of a map of the landmasses of the Earth.
Victoria is supposedly surprised by the offer as well.
“Even in these credit-crunched times, the fee offered to Victoria was astronomical. She was absolutely stunned.”
No word on whether Victoria has accepted this offer, but if she does she will work with Karl Lagerfeld on the creation.
Oh and by the way, notice that Victoria is wearing flats in this picture set. It’s like backwards day or something! I think this is the first time in YEARS that the former Spice Girl was photographed not wearing heels.

I find it hilarious that this woman has ever been considered to have a good eye for style, whether it’s for fashion, interiors or whatever.
I’m more amazed that she has been photographed wearing flat shoes! I’ve never seen her wear any before!!

Isn’t that island-whatever-World-development in Dubai on the verge of bankruptcy? They built up the islands and all those fancy expensive hotels and then the economy went sour and now they can’t rent out the rooms.

Um. I would bet money that they meant design as in INTERIOR design for the project. Do you really believe they’d ask her to design the actual structure?

She looks so much better and less ridiculous with those flats. Wearing (very high) heels every single day at every single occasion (even when you’re travelling or when you have 3 kids around you) is just over the top.
I thought she had a statement come out saying she thought ballet flats were hideous and she would never be caught dead in them??? Guess she went over to the dark side… hehehe
