Will Zac Efron Be The Next Spider-Man?

Some reports are suggesting that 'High School Musical' star Zac Efron will become the next Spider-Man, and Vanessa Hudgens may replace Kirsten Dunst to play his on-screen love interest.
"The franchise would be revitalised and transformed by two of Hollywood's most gifted and fast-rising young stars."
I don't know about this: both Zac and Vanessa (based on their movie role choices since wrapping up the 'High School Musical' franchise) seem to be focused on establishing themselves as serious actors.
And they're young: imagine what a nightmare it would be for the studio if Zac and Vanessa broke up in the middle of the franchise!
Yet part of becoming a major movie star seems to be getting a franchise, so it doesn't sound completely outlandish. What would you think of Zac as Spider-Man and Vanessa as Mary Jane?

I don't enjoy the SpiderMan movies. But I hate it when they replace the main character in any movie. If the original isn't available to do sequels then don't do them for crying out loud.

I am pretty sure they already picked the guy from Twilight to be the next spiderman...that's what a friend who follows tech blogs told me, so I am not too sure how accurate it is...just throwing the name out there :)

These two are AWFUL actors! They would definitely be the kiss of death for the Superman movies.

Hmmm, I think it's ok with Zac in the role, but I don't think Vanessa will fit the role.. Would much rather see Lindsay take on that role..

Zac as spiderman makes sense but Vanessa? Definitely not. It would be silly to cast them both just cause they're dating.

I don't like that it'll be a whole new cast...but I can see these 2 playing those roles...especially Zac.

Really? Are you a 14 year old girl? If you are, you are not the targeted audience for the Spiderman franchise and I really doubt the targeted audience is a fan of "Zanessa." It would be a bad move for them to pick Efron and Hudgens. The fanboys would have a fit and boycot this movie.
