Rachel Bilson Visits The Farmers’ Market

Rachel Bilson was seen with her mother Janice Stango at Atwater Village Farmers’ Market in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon. You can see that the actress likes to sample before she buys – smart lady.

She’s also fishing through a pile of Brussels Sprouts searching out the freshest ones. Wonder what dish she had in mind for the vegetable. I don’t believe I’ve ever cooked with them before.

Does your family eat Brussels Sprouts?

I absolutely LOVE brussel sprouts. I had them for the first time at this restaurant in NYC, Alta. The best way to prepare them is to cut them in half and dress them with olive oil, lemon juice, mustard seed, salt, and pepper. Then roast them on a cookie sheet face down for about 25 minutes at 425F.

Brussels sprouts are the best. Cut the bottoms off and then cut in half and roast in some oil spray and creole seasoning at 450 for 20 minutes and then up to 500 for 10 minutes. They get a little burnt and a lot awesome. I also like to roast sweet potatoes alongside and I will just eat that for dinner. Amazing!!!

    Yes we do!

Cut the ends off from the Brussels Sprout & then cut them in half & remove the outer layer.

Dice up 2 cloves of garlic and set aside
dice regular or Turkey Bacon into 1/2 inch pieces

cook bacon (Turkey Bacon) in the pan until it’s somewhat cooked and tender…. take out bacon and set aside, but leave the oil from the bacon in the pan

Add the BP’s & salt and pepper to taste and cook until they start to sear. You may have to add a little EVOO depending on how many BP’s you’re cooking.

Add bacon and cook for an additional 5 minutes… Add the garlic and saute for about a minute or so. You don’t want the garlic to turn bitter.

Transfer everything into a bowl and Enjoy!

My Husband who HATED Brussels Sprouts as a kid, absolutely loves this recipe.
