Casey Johnson Died Of Natural Causes

According to TMZ, the coroner's office has determined that 30-year-old Casey Johnson's death was due to "natural causes."

Casey's cause of death is listed as "diabetic ketoacidosis" -- which is a state of severe insulin deficiency.

Diabetic Ketoacidosis is a technical term for lack of insulin, which often leads to a diabetic coma. We previously reported where Johnson was hospitalized for diabetic comas at least twice before her death

Sources connected to the autopsy reportedly told TMZ that Casey died due to neglect: she did not take care of herself.

[O]ur sources say the Coroner's findings clearly show Johnson -- who died at 30 -- was not taking her insulin shots, was not exercising, did not follow her strict diet and was not taking other medicines she needed.

Another tragic, senseless death. My thoughts are with Casey's family.

How horrible. :( A death that was completely preventable.

While I do feel for her family, I think it's disgusting that a grown woman with a child just couldn't be bothered to look after herself. Diabetes can be very easily controlled if one isn't an irresponsible spoiled princess. Shame on her for being so selfish.

so young for natural causes. RIP.

it wasn't really natural causes. apparently she had stopped taking her diabetes medication and wasn't taking care of herself (using drugs).

I was thinking the same thing. To me natural causes should mean that you are so stinking old your heart just stops and you go peacefully in your sleep. To have a disease and not take care of yourself, or insure that you have the appropriate medication is stupidity.

My husband has had type 1 for 30+ years and went into ketoacidocis last spring, ending up in ICU for 5 days. He's on an insulin pump, works out everyday and plays ice hockey every week. He had flu symptoms and was hyperventilating in the middle of the night and I just happened to wake up then took him to the ER, his blood sugar was 1199, NOT a typo! Diabetes is no joke but just wanted to say that even if you take the best care fluke things can happen as we found out.

Diabetes is a pain in the ass, and hard to manage, especially for someone with poor impulse control and addiction issues. Let's have some compassion.

It is so sad. Poor thing... Not sure if this is relevant at all but I actually saw a documentary on eating disorders where a girl who had diabetes was not taking her insulin shots cos she wanted to loose weight. Apparently it does work and a lot of young women putting their lives in danger trying to control their weight by not taking their insulin.
