Mickey Rourke Calls Megan Fox Best Young Actress

Mickey Rourke has been filming scenes for the upcoming movie “Passion Play” with Megan Fox. He sat down with Entertainment Weekly to chat about working with Megan, and how his life has changed since “The Wrestler”.

On Megan:

I didn’t know too much about her, except what I read. And I think the pleasant surprise was this girl who’s a world-class beauty turned out to be probably the best young actress I’ve ever worked with. I don’t know if a lot of her films have showcased her acting ability more than, say, being action-oriented, but she really stepped up the plate with this one and was very consistent and professional, beyond her years. At 23, I couldn’t do half of what she’s doing.

That’s quite the compliment!

He says the two have great chemistry – something he lacked in his role in ‘The Wrestler’:

Well, The Wrestler was quite tough. There wasn’t much chemistry there. Uh, that’s a whole other conversation. With Megan and I, there’s a lot of chemistry and a lot of respect. We’re both comfortable with each other.

He was asked if his life had sped up or slowed down since the buzz of ‘The Wrestler’.

Things have sped up. After The Wrestler, I realized I was going to get a second chance to work again after throwing everything away. It’s been a nice ride. I think the lesson I learned was I have to do movies that I respect, with people that I respect, and not for a payday.

Are you a fan of Mickey’s work? Are you anxious to check out ‘Passion Play’?

Like it or not, she’s beautiful. Get over it.

  2. OutInLeftField says:

No one is disputing her beauty, just her acting skills.

  3. lara jane says:

No kidding. We never said she wasn’t pretty, although she’s definitely TTH.

  4. Anonymous says:

she’s a horrible actress!!! i’m sure she had to sleep with him for him to say something so ridiculous.

  5. femguide says:

I’m glad he’s giving her props and saying how professional she is. I can think of many actors who are worse than her. People rag on her because she is an easy target.

  6. Michael says:

I would actually encourage Fox do improve in her acting, rather than call her such mean names. Okay, I’m aware of that little stunt she pulled on Michael Bay, but don’t we all stick our foot in our mouths and regret it. Besides, they made up in time to work on “Transformers 3″, which I hope will bring back the warmth and invite that the last film offered.

I’d also suggest that she appear in a film with strong talent. I would’ve loved to see her in the rock-em-sock-em zombie film “Zombieland” rather than Emma Stone (who I like, however). “Jennifer’s Body” was written by the aggravatingly overrated Diablo Cody, who smacks you in the face with her rancid ideas of comedy instead of warming us up with good Sam Raimi-ish horror.

But hey, what do you want from me? I’m actually one of the only people on the internet who don’t bash celebrities. Unless they’re Miley Cyrus. I won’t go into that, because I’m exhausted from her horseshit.

  7. supia says:

    hes only saying that because she kisses him during production =.=;;

  8. uh-huh says:

I found his comment about having no chemistry in The Wrestler interesting. Was he making a jab at Marisa Tomei and their performance together?

    hmmm…best actress?
…not in a million years…beautiful? physical beauty is greatly diminished when a person has an ugly soul. Most of Hollywood has ugly and rotten souls. How else can you survive there in that gutter? A beauty is a complete package. Have you ever seen physically attractive person but as soon as he/she opened mouth you felt it was full of crap?

  10. anonymous says:

I think he should continue acting with people he doesn’t have any chemistry with because that’s when he seems to give the best performance.

  11. Anonymous says:

Marisa Tomei’s acting skills vs. Megan Fox’s? Puhleease!

  12. Don says:

No one knows Megan Fox’s true range. She’s only been in films that don’t require much range, idiots! How much can she possibly do in films like Transformers? Come on! She handled her roll fine in both films for what her character needed to do, which was look hot as the eye candy portion of the film and run from Megatron. She’s young and has many years ahead to improve and explore different rolls. I think a lot b_itch and moan over her obvious beauty and just follow what else other people say. Anyone with half a brain can see her resume so far has not called for serious acting, but fun and easy-going projects and there’s nothing wrong with that! Do all actresses have to pull a Meryl Streep by their 25th birthday or something? Nope! Do what you like and enjoy because life’s too short. And who cares if she’s said dumb stuff about Bay. Trust me, she respects that man a lot. Who in Hollywood hasn’t said something they want to take back? Did she kill anyone with her words? Get a grip, people!

Is he referring to Evan Rachel Wood in TW? Because at the time that came out, I thought he said she was the greatest young actress he’s ever worked with and they were the best of friends but now he has a different story…interesting.

  14. Anonymous says:

It wasn’t well publicized but I don’t think there was any love lost there. There were a couple articles and interviews that alluded to friction. I remember reading that he got her lines changed and she was furious. Also when asked about Tomei, he always replied that Evan Rachael Wood was great to work with. I don’t think it was because he was confused about who they were asking him about. He had glowing things to say about Wood until she publicly called him old and went on record saying she wasn’t attracted to him at all. his comment about Megan is a slap in the face to her.

THANK YOU!!! i completely agree! she used to be stunning to me, but from what i have read about her she seems conceited and i am actually quite over her looks. Which is sad because I liked that she wasnt the typical blue eyed, button nose blonde. Mila Kunis however was always stunnning to me, but seems like an absolute sweetheart (or if not then she is also a great actor in her interviews!) and now she is even more stunning to me

  16. Mickey is just kiss her butt with these compliments. We all know the truth that she is a horrible actor. He just wants to get in her pants.

  17. Manimal says:

Mickey got jobbed last year. He should have won for The Wrestler. Fantastic acting by him.

  18. DonnaJ says:

    I like Mickey, always have.

  19. lara jane says:

I like his work, but I think his brain is fried if he thinks Megan Fox is the best young actress. Then again, he hasn’t worked with many (young actresses) lately, so she might well be!

  20. Anonymous says:

i agree. I also think that he is a bit star struck because of the way megan looks and acts and is a bit superficial therefore has put her on a pedestal. He has worked with Mena Suvari and close with Brittany Murphy…both if which were far better actresses than megan. but probably far more confident and less flirty

  21. Larzo says:

It’s especially surprising following his recent criticism calling most actors second rate. Maybe it’s just actors who aren’t working with him?

  22. imagamble says:

I like his work but I agree brain fried! Although some of the craziest people make the best actors, no reality confines.

  23. bgduckie_01 says:

i haven’t watched any of the movies she’s been in, but i always hear she’s a horrible actress.

  24. meme says:

don’t listen to mickey – he’s nuts. great actor but nuts. megan fox is the WORST actress around.

  25. Goddess711 says:

Sure he does – I bet he’s got a few other pet names for her. The guy looks like the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz. Like I’m going to take his opinion about anything seriously? Why the hell doesn’t he un-do that face-did? Incredibly scary and limits the roles he can be tolerated in. He used to hot and crazy – now he’s just crazy.

  26. Anonymous says:

Wow, you are a horrible human being. He has a heart the size of a football field, and you are so worried about what he did or didn’t do to his face? Who are you to judge? He is loony toons, yes, but also an amazing actor and human being.

It sounds like somebody has a little crush…!

  32. OutInLeftField says:

That’s kind of a slap in the face to all the young actresses he’s worked with.

  33. anonymous says:

Do you personally know the guy? How do you know he’s a great human being? I love it when folks think celebrities are their best friend.
