Ellen DeGeneres isn’t the only one in her family taking on new projects with her ‘American Idol’ judging gig. Ellen’s wife, Portia De Rossi, is writing a memoir, where she will talk about dealing with anorexia, her sexuality, and falling in love with Ellen.
“It will deal with all the secrets that nearly killed me,” De Rossi, who was born with the name Mandy Rogers, told an Australian magazine.
“Nobody can really get inside the anorexic’s mind like the anorexic,” she said. “I abused my body. I had bulimia. I would use (diet drug) fen-phen. I wanted to talk about all that.
But obviously I can’t do that without talking about my sexuality. And although you can’t really talk about one without the other, it still felt like two stories. The only thing that linked the two of them was me.”
Portia also plans to talk about how she found happiness in her life with Ellen.
“Happiness is a choice, too. It’s a choice to live in a state of gratitude and to fix what makes you unhappy. Being honest with who you are, being able to go out into the world and show people that you can be successful and be happy and be in a good marriage – it’s important.
“I tell her (DeGeneres) all my insecurities, all of my worries, and within a few minutes I feel better. She’s just so helpful to me. I think I help her too. I keep her focused on what’s important and what the big picture is. I think that’s what a good couple do for each other.”
I remember Portia (and how thin she got) during her ‘Ally McBeal’ days. I’m not sure if I’ll buy the book or not, though. How about you?

Well, who cares that she had or has anorexia? Ellen has changed, her show sucks and is just plain stupid, boring and she has this idiotic hair cut now, she is trying to “BE THE MAN” I she was not as rich as she is I doubt that Portia would have looked twice. Ellen was a jerk to her ex, dumping her cruelly for someone she didn’t even know, and cheating as well just because she “looks” like a catch. She even joked and said “I’VE GOT HER! move over John Stamos” I use to love Ellen but she is a real narcissist now, it’s all gone to her head, she is no longer nice she is a snob. If she was so into animals and all that then she would do public service announcements for free but she advertises Cover Girl cosmetics, cover girl cosmetics tests their products on animals! . So she is a hypocrite as well. Her plastic surgeries are just too much, she has had her eyes done, a face lift, liposuction, etc and so on just to look as young as Portia! Truth is, she is 53 years old and Portia (or Mandy as her given name) is 18 years younger, there is no way they are going to stay together. I agree that Mandy is a mediocre actress. stupid TV roles and guest spots. Who cares about her memoirs? If she wants to prove she’s over her anorexia, then eat some chocolate cake already! Also, Portia wears way way too much make up and she has been photographed in fur more times than I can count so she is also a hypocrite. Ellen use to be cool but not any more
OH BROTHER ! I mean get real! Portia is no more gay than Elizabeth Taylor, she is a gold digger! It is real easy to FIX what you are unhappy about when you have a billion dollars and can go on fabulous vacations and buy 6 or 7 multimillion dollar mansions all over the world. As soon as some hot man with a billion dollars shows up and sweeps Ms. poor me I am anorexic (she still is anorexic obviously) she will dump Ellen. TRUST ME! Writing her memoirs? Who gives a flying fruck? I want to hear from someone who really had to overcome incredible odds not some blonde bimbo skinny actress who can buy anything she wants whenever she wants! Portia is a whore!

I agree, She is not even talented. Her shows like Better off Ted were so lame, she got the roles because she put extensions on and dyed them blonde. Not to mention sleeping around and oh yeah she got married for a green card? PUUUUUHHHHLEEASE! She’s an idiot. Why does she always have one side of her shirt untucked? Is that suppose to be sexy? Or is it a fashion thang?
a huge dissapointment awaits Ellen any time soon when this Portia gets bored and discovers a new way towards hollywood heights by finding someone , this time maybe younger. She is not new at it.Who is Portia without Ellen?

Its really funny how anyone on here can say portia isnt gay or she married ellen for money portia is gorgeous and could of had any rich man in hollywood have you ever seen the way they look at each other you can tell they are in love and the way portia talks about ellen in interviews i doubt shed be faking for this long and just because shes a attractive blonde doesnt make her any less talented or does it mean she didnt struggle it takes great strength to over come anorexia and then write book about this book is going to help so many people portia is a great person and i have all faith that ellen and portia are gonna make it and if they dont i highly doubt it will be because some rich guy came along and portia walks out if you actually paid any attention to they way they smile at each other they way they talk so highly about one another youd have no doubt they love each other and half of you bashing them and their relationship i really think its because its two women and get over it

I will likely read it. One of my favourite aspects of Portia is how honest she is about the battles she’s been through. You hear too many Hollywood types say things like “Oh I just had a string of stomach flues for a few years” or some equally absurd reason for their weight loss.
I think they are a great couple and compliment one another in every capacity.

I hate it when celebs write books about themselves and their recipe for achieving “happiness.” Usually, right after their book is published, they get a divorce or a scandal breaks out. But kudos for Mandy for talking about her struggles with Anorexia.
