Update: Angelina Jolie Visits Haiti

Angelina Jolie visited survivors of the Haiti quake in the Dominican Republic earlier this week, and now she is visiting Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, to see the devastation firsthand.

She visited a hospital yesterday and is expected to visit the Jacmel, a city in the southern part of Haiti, where there’s a camp for the homeless and a Save the Children center.

Here’s a video of some of Angelina’s visit (and reception):

I think it’s safe to say Angelina is well-liked in Haiti :)

Update: Angelina is speaking out about adopting Haiti children. This is what she had to say:

” … new adoptions should definitely not be encouraged as an immediate response to the emergency. Haiti had many trafficking problems before the earthquake and now must keep a very close watch on the children. I would encourage as much support as possible to groups like SOS and UNICEF providing care for children in country.”

And does anyone see Jen doing anything like this???
she is too busy trying to get and man and actually hold on to him for a week. Angelina is beautiful very smart and intelligent and a good will ambassador, and truly cares about poor people and people in need. at least Angie is trying to help

  2. Lesleigh1972 says:

And I hope she does adopt a Haitian child, she would be giving that child a chance in life….dumb ass

  3. Lesleigh1972 says:

Please why are you bringing Jennifer Aniston into this. She gave 1/2 a million for Haiti. Is that not enough for you? By tearing down Jennifer you are not building up Anglina. It is people like you that make me HATE reading these post. You know nothing about being good hearted. You have shown the hate in your heart by bashing Jennifer.

  6. Nichole Lords says:

Oh please, she has phot ops constantly she does not NEED a reason
she is just a good hearted person, unlike some jealous, unhappy people on here. what have you done about Haiti??? have you even donated??? and yes I have, and no not much…but what I could afford

  7. Goddess711 says:

YAY! Nothing like a natural disaster for a photo-op! Way to capitalize on it AJ!

  8. Landy says:

Quit being so cynical, at least she’s doing something about it.

  9. Nichole Lords says:

Giving money is one thing, but putting your heart into it and actually going there and seeing this for yourself is another…not bashing her just stating fact she is too busy being selfish to commit to takng a trip and showing in person that she cares…anyways no more talk of Jen. she is pathetic

    Long Live Santa Angelina!

Time to bring a Haitian kid into the family!

  12. Donna Elisabeth says:

    You are an IDIOT……LOL

  13. Anonymous says:

Kudos to Angelina for being well informed about the situation in Haiti and passing the info to the public. She may have a dubious love life but at least she takes the time to learn about the issues she speaks about.

  14. Star says:

Angelina cares about press. Have you ever read Mommy Dearest? The actress adopted kids too for publicity and the kids grew up to talk about how horrible she was.
Her adoptions were damage control for all the bad things she did. And why do people bring up Jennifer Aniston? Cant you compare Angelina to another celeb or do you only have the brain to repeat what the tabloids say?
Michael Bay took down a jet full of paramedics an I dont see him filiming his plight to Haiti.
    It’s Publicity.

  15. OK…I love how she has adopted kids from the 3rd world in the past. Very nice. BUT…thats too many children. Let some of them grow up 1st!!!

They will buy only a perfect child.
They will not buy a child with a disability.
    Or by amputation!

    Your child will be perfect!

  20. Scruffy says:

Wheneva I read you’r MULTIPLE posts on this subject all I hear is blah blah blah.

  21. JoyB says:

OMG….you are so shallow, first of all how do you know this to be fact?
and second….as long as ANYONE adopts a child thats all that matters they are giving a needy child a VERY good home..regardless!

  22. Aaralynn3 says:

Mixpickel, you are just so wrong!
my God as long as ANY CHILD and ANYONE adopts and give a good home what does it matter? you do not know what you are saying is true or not and why dont you adopt a child as you mentioned above??
just be glad a child has a home and a loving family, you seem so defensive and angry

  23. Anonymous says:

sorry guys but Mixpickel is 100% right. brangelina could be much more effectivve if they adopted children with special needs that no one else wants to adopt. they have the resources.

  24. Lesleigh1972 says:

Please, ok everyone bashes these two for adopting period
then youhave the gall to bash because they have not adopted kids with special needs, its kinda damn if you do damn if you dont with you people. all I can say is Angelina and Brad have big hearts and they do what they can for others, they are SO MANY OTHER celebs that have RESOURCES as well, why not comment on them??? lets see Jennifer has no kids, she has resources, why wont she adopt and special needs child, or hell any child for that matter????? why??? cause she is self centered and thats why Brad left her, she is not very maternal at all.

  25. Lesleigh1972 says:

And as and FYI, not not bragging, I had the chance to meet Angie in New Orleans a while back, she was on the streets just walking with her kids, she is the most happy down to earth person you could ever wanna meet, she was very friendly and was Brad.

  26. Anonymous says:

sorry guys but Mixpickel is 100% right. brangelina could be much more effectivve if they adopted children with special needs that no one else wants to adopt. they have the resources.

  27. Aaralynn3 says:

No she is not right, like I said….as long as ANYONE adopts any child thats all that matter, nothing is stopping you and her from adopting these types of children, to each their own but sweep around your own door step first

  28. YAYI says:

I totally agree with you Aaralynn3. As long as they care to go and adopt a child and give it a good home with love and care is all that matters. People just don’t know how else to attack these two. This woman is doing an amazing charity work something lots of people should be doing instead of talking smack about her personal life.

  29. Landy says:

To all the naysayers…Brad and Angelina aren’t obligated to live up to your expectations. The fact that they adopted children who otherwise would be orphans is wonderful.

Some people are so wrapped up in their own bitterness that they refuse to see the good deeds of others as anything other than manipulation.

  30. Lesleigh1972 says:

    KUDOS…to Landy….well said

  31. Jan says:

Does a star such as Jolie really make people reach in their pocket more? Its seems to me if a disaster struck as a compassionate human I would donate what I can. The fact that any star ( not just Jolie ) is visiting and in the press actually makes me keep my wallet closed. Obviously I am in the minority with that sentiment tho since stars are always selected as the “face” of something.

  32. Landy says:

Your attitude is very cynical. The relief efforts in Haiti are far from over and it’s imperative that people not forget that they are in need. Celebs, like Jolie, who is also a UN Goodwill Embassador, are trying to accomplish this.

When it comes to helping those in need, one must put pettiness aside and do what’s right.

  33. Jan says:

Pettiness has nothing to do with my comment. I donate to several hospitals in my community, the Red Cross, MS society, Kiva just to name a few organizations. My point was I donate because I feel moved by another human beings plight not because a “star” tells me I should. It is so sad to see a country in such a state as Haiti and it is heartbreaking to know that their government stands between our dollars and their citizens.

  34. Star says:

Why did you bring Jennifer up when no one was talking about her. How petty.
