According to TMZ, Sean Penn will be charged with criminal battery and vandalism (two misdemeanor counts) today after a run-in with paparazzi. TMZ caught the incident on camera:
Sean allegedly broke the paparazzo’s camera when he kicked him. If convicted of both counts, Sean could face one and a half years in jail.
I doubt Sean will see the inside of a jail cell over this, but it seems like he’d have learned how to control his temper a little better by now. He’s been in the business long enough to know that paparazzi is part of the deal (although I can see where it would get irritating sometimes).
What do you think: does Sean deserve to face charges based on the video above?

GOOD FOR SEAN for saying “Get the fuck outta my face–I only went to the store.” He’s a great actor who’s made terrific films, and has every right to protect himself, his family, and his friends.
I would carry RAID, a lighter, a can of hairspray, silly string, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, spray paint, and Mace, AT ALL TIMES. Plus, my own cam to film the previous harassment prior to the final event.

why can’t ‘actors’ just ‘act’ like they don’t see or hear the paparazi and just keep going……
SP ought to be used to the paps about now. They hounded him when he was married to Madonna in the late 80s. He strikes me as the type of man that needs many years of therapy. All that anger cannot be healthy.
You know, I agree that the paparazzi have got to be annoying at times, but it comes with the package deal of fame. Sean has to get used to that. I’m sure he’ll end up paying some fine, but I doubt he’ll end up behind bars. We don’t really know if words were exchanged before hand or not, but it looks like Sean just charged after the guy because he had a camera. Either way, he shouldn’t have kicked the guy. Next time, just stay quiet and ignore him, and the cameraman will move on, because they’re looking for a story – so don’t give them one.
That doesn’t mean that the paparazzi shouldn’t have some standards of behavior. If you had a career that you really enjoyed, do you think you’d be okay with something this invasive and unnecessary?

I agree. They edit their videos to make it look like the attack was unprovoked but you notice it was just one guy he was going after. That to me suggests he went over the line and said something that Sean just couldn’t ignore. Yes, I do realize he has a temper and can be a pain in the butt, but he is one heck of an actor.
may be the only one but i think that we don’t know what happened before he hits the paparazzi so i think sean doesn’t deserve it

I know a lot of people think Sean Penn is great but I just can’t stand him. His arrogance is always showing through. I can’t even stand watching him act cause he’s always so smug and arrogant. I hope he does jail time.
I remember back in the 80s he would beat up paparazzi….he really really really hate them.
