America Ferrera is “in denial” that ‘Ugly Betty’ has been canceled. The actress – who has portrayed Betty Suarez since 2006 – can’t bring herself to accept that the role is ending.
“I’ve lived with this character who I’ve loved from day one and I have only grown to feel more connected to her and also responsible for making sure her journey is a complete one. Her entire journey was about a transformation, kind of coming into her womanhood and owning herself both physically and emotionally. It’s hard to say goodbye. I haven’t really started going there yet because I still have four episodes to shoot. So I’m staying in denial for now and I’ll deal with all those emotions in a little bit. I imagine that when we finally wrap it’s not going to be a dry-eyed goodbye.”
It was recently revealed ‘Ugly Betty’ would be canceled once cast and crew had finished working on the fourth series. Part of the reason why America is sad to leave the role behind is because her portrayal of Betty has greatly helped her develop as a person herself and made her realize her ambitions as a TV actress. She explained to Parade.com:
“I never really pictured myself being on television. I couldn’t imagine a world coming along that would entice me enough to sign away years and years of my life to one character. Then Betty came around. I was 21 when I started and I’ve learned so much and grown so much as a person. It has to be about believing in what you’re doing.”

Last night I watched a bit of Ugly Betty, for the first time ever! I did watch the Dutch version of the show (I was ADDICTED) But I never paid much attention to Betty. I have to admit, I liked it!
By its very nature this show wasn’t meant to go on for years and years. It’s time Betty emerges from her cocoon and becomes the beautiful butterfly she is meant to become.

My addiction is this show! Fashion is my world of work. So this is my guilty pleasure. I love love love betty! So, I feel the same way. I don’t want the show to end. But, so much has happened to betty that now it only seems fair to give her the perks in her life. The real perks. The guy , the look, the life as a fashion editor. We know betty is a beauty, look at America; She has grown so much as a looker …….. She looks beautiful in these images!
