During the NY premiere for ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’Ethan Hawke admitted he struggles to balance his work and family life. The 39-year-old actor, who has two children, Maya, 11 and Levon, eight, with ex-wife Uma Thurman and 19-month-old Clementine with current spouse Ryan Shawhughes(pictured above), admits he finds it difficult to pursue an acting career while coping with the demands of home.
“Anybody who is a parent who wants to have a professional life knows that it’s a struggle… always a balance.”
However, the ‘Training Day’ actor admits his burden is made easier with the help of his oldest daughter.
“Maya is about to be 12, so she’s getting pretty good with the baby.”
Earlier this week, Uma also admitted she struggles to find the balance between being a good mother to Maya and Levon and committing to work, because she worries about making them feel insecure.
“I don’t want them to notice when I’m exhausted or depressed. They need a steady mother who gives them a feeling of security, otherwise they might become even more vulnerable than they, as children, already are.”
It’s a shame these two didn’t work out. Luckily, they both moved on and found happiness elsewhere. It’s nice to hear their children jointly remain the priority.

I agree. It’s a shame these two didn’t work out. They were a beautiful couple. But, I’m glad that Ethan is happy now.
