Brooke Shields sat down with Ladies Home Journal, and she did not hold back.
“I don’t know if you ever do feel balanced. People who say they do are lying,” she says.
Okay then ![]()
Brooke admitted to getting Botox but said she’s trying to stay away from plastic surgery.
“I want laser treatment because I’m not a fan of my wrinkles, but I have to find someone with a light touch. I’m scared I’ll end up looking like the Joker.”
She spoke about her first marriage to Andre Agassi.
“With Andre it was like, ‘Please be the adult. Please take care of me.’ And he did.”
What about Andre’s allegations (in his memoir) that Brooke was career obsessed?
[Agassi writes about watching a scene where her character licks Matt LeBlanc's hand on the set of Friends, Agassi became so incensed that he smashed his Wimbledon trophies.] “Does he mention I spent the next three years replicating those trophies? He doesn’t say that, does he? Of course not. That’ll be in my book!”
On Michael Jackson’s death:
“He thought he was dying already. They were killing him, the people and the press.”
On her mother’s Alzheimers:
“Now my mother lives in the past. She wants to talk about the trip we took to Manila when I was 15 and what Imelda Marcos said to her. I’m like, ‘Mom, how about just today.’”
Brooke admitted to still wanting her mother’s approval:
“I’ll see her and think, She’s going to say my hair’s too dark. She’s going to ask if I’ve gained weight. I might as well be 10. I’m confident in my own mothering, I’ve been making all my own decisions for a long time, but after all these years, I want my mom.”
Brooke admitted she isn’t the most optimistic person.
“I’m not an innately positive-only person. I can get dark really easily.”

Botox does not give that plastic/waxy appearance to the skin. Medical Grade facial peels done too often will do that to the skin, but not botox alone. All botox does is paralize the muscle under the skin.
She still looks great.
botoxnly only paralyzes the muscle under the skin. She does not look plastic at all! Its the ones who do too many strong facial peels too often that get the waxy look to the skin.
Good to know. Now I know what NOT to get done!
She annoys me to my very core.
Wow, so brave of her to share her story. I hope she read the article in the HuffPost the other day about how arts can help people with Alzheimer’s and can get her mom involved: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rosalia-gitau/art-therapy-for-alzheimer_b_495914.html
She is beginning to look kind of plastic-y. She needs to leave the Botox for a while.
good for her for setting the record straight
wow that seemed super candid – I love her, she has always seemed so level headed and grounded
I love reading about her….I’m quite fascinated with her. she had a very ‘interesting’ life.
wow..finally a honest person
I love Brooke and I can totally related with what she says.
When is she NOT candid. I wish sometimes she would not be so revealing.
She uses botox and doesn’t look like a festive holiday candle. Wow!
She seems to be grounded. Beautiful family.
