‘Gossip Girl’ star Taylor Momsen is still speaking her mind 
She’s again made it clear that she’s going to do what she wants to do, and she doesn’t care what people think of her.
“I don’t really care about being a celebrity. It comes along with the territory so you can’t totally avoid it. But there’s a difference between doing the red carpet and having people invade my personal life taking pictures of me. And that’s why celebrity is so stupid.
“You don’t want to become something that a few million people watching your show want you to be. I want to be who I am because, if I lose that, then what am I doing this for? It’s not about fitting in. If you don’t fit in as yourself, then you don’t fit in.”
Which is actually a pretty smart philosophy, I think. That’s why Taylor makes it clear she is NOT a role model.
“I smoke, so what? Why do people give a s**t what a 16-year-old girl who they’ve never met does? It’s not like I’m sitting there going, ‘Kids, you should go buy a pack of cigarettes.’
“When I walk outside with a cigarette and someone takes a picture of it and puts it on the internet, it’s not my problem. I’m just living my life and I’m not gonna live my life for other people.
“I don’t read that c**p that describes me as having an attitude, but I don’t know why that’s a bad thing. I didn’t get into this to be a role model for seven-year-olds. I have no interest in doing that.”
Hmmm… I suspect a lot of celebrities feel the same way but don’t actually say it in interviews, so I guess you have to give Taylor credit for being honest.

Who’s a freaking hater – you’re going to have kids one day and I don’t think u would want your 16 year old daughter talking and dress like that. Why don’t we all blacklist her since she don’t want to be famous – since she “did for the craft” every celbe out there got into this field bec that wanted to be famous – they admired other stars, looked pics of other celbe. I think she is a very nasty lil girl and her moth is going to make her some lots of crack one day and have no career. Who would want to work with her with that attitude? That’s same sht that Megan F. & Kristen S. tried to pull – as we can see they have humble themselves. Look at the rude lady from Grays Anatomy – she’s not booking any jobs – she always had something nasty to say – save your opinion for you family and publicist. And respect the people that pay your fing bill – that’s us. SHT!!!!
I don’t like this girl at all, she looks like something Courtney Love coughed up. And I do think she’s trying too hard to be someone.

I could not agree more…. people should not have to sell there souls to the world in order to follow a dream of being an actor/actress, a profession like any other. The public craze of celebrity fascination is far more alarming than a 16 year old smoker. Role model status should not be wasted on every and anyone in the public eye but perhaps ones that actually make significant difference in the world….celebrate meaningful achievements, not hairstyles.
People are such haters, huh? First of all, I too say Bravo to her for being herself. She’s not condoning smoking or telling others its a smart thing to do, she’s just being who she is, not conforming to the image given to her by her Gossip Girl role.

No way, no how is Vera promoting the philosophy of a chain-smoking 16 y.o. Did you even read what she wrote? Because if you did, there’s no way you’d get that from what she’s saying. Vera is simply acknowledging that Taylor isn’t trying to be who society tells her to be. She’s being her own person, and I, for one, think that is pretty refreshing.

A lot of people thinking that she has an attitude for saying that, that she should be a role model, and that her smoking is UBER bad. First of all i hardly think that 7 and under should be the age group of anyone watching gossip girl (sex, drugs, alcohol, etc.) and I’m also 16 literally 75% of everyone I know smoke, drink, or do some sort of drugs. Although I don’t personally smoke or like it, it’s hardly that bad.
I agree with her philosophy, but I don’t like her because she’s striving so hard for attention that she ends up looking stupid, and I don’t know what she’s famous for to begin with. As far as I can see, there’s no talent in that girl :/

I am going against the popular opinion and saying Bravo. No, I think it’s horrible that she smokes, don’t get me wrong. But being an actor DOES NOT mean you are automatically a role model.
