Carey Mulligan says boyfriend Shia LaBeouf is “amazing”.
The 24-year-old actress met the actor on the set of their new movie ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ – which also stars Michael Douglas – and admits there was an instant attraction between them.
The first time we read together we were so nervous. It was just me and Michael and Shia, and neither Shia or I looked up.
“You never know how these things are going to work. I’d wanted to work with Shia since ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints’. He’s amazing. He was so incredible in that film, and we ended up working together well.”
Carey also revealed she is taking a break from acting as she wants to spend more time with her friends and family. She added in an interview with Wonderland magazine:
“I actually don’t have a job coming up. It’s been hard to make decisions whilst all this is going on because you don’t want to jump into something.
“My agent came up to me and was asking for the only half hour I had in the next two weeks. And I was home, so I wanted to see my friends and I was like, ‘Don’t take the five seconds left that I have. I just don’t want to be in a movie! I don’t want to have the responsibility of being a big actress, I don’t want to be on a poster.’ “
Wow – that is probably the exact opposite of how every other actress feels in Hollywood.

Well, she doesn’t seem very driven. Is she sure she wants this job of acting for a career. She is with someone who has seemed to be driven since before the age of 10. Maybe she will slow him down but in their twenties they should be really looking at the work and the quality, definitely working as much as humanly possible. Just so they can set themselves up for the future breaks they want to take. Perhaps she doesn’t have the money pressures and obligations that her partner has? Dimples and gamine looks though as an actress will only go so far. She needs to put a bit more serious effort in and schedule upcoming work vs time off better. A few more acting lessons might help her stretch her range as well.

Shia is superb in A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. All those people who say he is just an action actor really need to watch it. His scenes with Chazz Palminteri are heartbreaking.
Carey is fast becoming my favorite actress, she is so enjoyable to watch and has such a friendly quality about her.
