I have to say something here… why is it that whenever a woman works she suddenly has to defend her priorities to the masses? I know that this fight is personal for Jon and he is just doing what he can to make Kate’s life a living hell. ..but give me a break!
While promoting her new book ‘I Just Want You to Know‘, Kate Gosselin decided to bring up the notion that she is choosing fame over her children. In case you didn’t hear, Jon filed court papers claiming his ex-wife is an “absentee” mom while requesting custody of the children.
Here’s what she had to say: “I am a working mom and cameras are on me, so people catch me traveling or working. I’ve got to work harder now than ever because I am a single mom and in my heart, I am always in my kitchen baking and cooking for my kids, and I will always be there. It is a struggle to be here … I would rather be at home with them. But I have to work. I have to provide for them. It’s a struggle every single mom goes through.”
And what about all the extra time she is spending on Dancing with the Stars?

“I am on the first flight as soon as the show lets me out, and that’s my night of sleep. I get home and I dance and I am done by the time they get home from school and I spend the rest of the week with them. It’s difficult.”
What’s your take on all of this? Kate has to work to provide for her children, but do you think she is working too much? Or is this just the new way life is for a family.
OK – for the record. They did not expect to have 6 at once for a total of 8. If I’m not mistaken they did some type of fertility treatment the same as they did with the twins. Things just turned out better and they ended up having 6 (one died or they would have had a total of seven vs. 8).
I don’t think she is mean and I don’t think she treated Jon bad. He was and is immature. Anyone knows that children require a certain amount of order or consistency, especially when they are young. She was and is the consistent one. Jon was the fun one. That’s bad enough when you have one – but eight!
Also if she was an actress criss crossing across the country and on multiple projects no one would say anything. I’m an average person and used to travel for my job a week or two every few months. These are the signs of the times. Give Kate a break.
Also she won’t be on Dancing with the Stars too much longer because she can’t dance:-)

First of all, let’s be clear here – Kate is a woman who has had EIGHT children. Eight children DO NOT make someone a celebrity. Someone with EIGHT children is NOT sexy and the constant attention paid to her and her appearance is disgusting. She is not cute, sexy or the slightest bit attractive (personality being the deciding factor there). Kate has NO business on DWTS-but we all love to hate on her, don’t we??
Kate AND Jon DECIDED to have a litter of kids. They should BOTH be working. However, Kate is all about the glam and being in the public eye. Jon is just a douche – plain and simple. They really should BOTH be ashamed of themselves for what they have created and what they have done to those kids.
One last note – Jon looks a bit, well, slow, doesn’t he? The kids do as well. Poor little things.

I’m a working mom and have 3 kids and 2 of the go to pre-k (full-time) so it would not make a diffence if I were to stay home either way my i would not be w/ my kids. So, Stop hating all you ” Anonymous” poster!
I think that it’s unfair she needs to defend her decision to work to support her family, what is this 1950? She has EIGHT children and her husband is MIA. Whether or not she has a warm and fuzzy personality is irrelevant. Maybe she WANTS to work, on top of needing to work, and there is nothing wrong with that. I also totally believe, given what we’ve seen of jon’s douchebag behavior, that he is totally NOT trying to support the kids like he should, which is why she NEEDS to work. give this woman a break, sheesh
For me the reason why I dislike her choices is that I think they are over the top. Can she really not make ends meet with her book deals and personal appearances and must she be on several tv shows and heaven knows what else when it seems like the general public are not fans? It seems she must have lots of “things” which I guess is the American Dream. Work hard and you will be rich. But do you NEED to be rich to look after your kids?
Jon is an attention whore and he is jealous of Kate b/c she is getting more attention than him – end of story.
u should be able to see how long she is away from home, you can see it through the pictures in the media. for example… last saturday she left for CA (the day before easter) she was still there on tues, apparently she flew home on wednesday and was in NY on thurs for the tlc fall line up release plus she taped for access hollywood. 5 days people! So yes this looks like i am a stalker but i’m not i just decided to track it to see who was telling the truth. If she is not using her kids for fame, somebody please tell me what else she has done, books and tv and about kids, I cannot wait for the books that the children will write to come out, I promise I will be first on line to see what kind of life mommy dearest actually gave them.
and she’s not a single mom, she has an ex husband who wants to be part of the kids life, she just won’t let him… why are you people spinning this line. she gets 20,000 a month in child support, that’s 1/4 million dollars a year, cash from her 4 books, stay the hell at home. show me a single mom who wouldn’t stay home and take care of their kids for that cash… give me a break people stop buying the PR spin.

Jon needs to grow up and get a job and stop trying to freeload off of people. His 15 minutes was up a long time ago. If he wasn’t such an ass by messing up his contract with TLC he would of still been making money to this day. Kate has to support the children some way. Don’t hate the hustle!

I’m a working mom. I make tough choices every day. But that’s just it. It’s about the choices and sacrifices you make. Choosing what to sacrifice is the hardest thing. To the outside world it looks as if her sacrifice has become her children.
It’s much more difficult for a momto have to work outside.I’m also a mom and I have to work all day,and sometimes even at night,but how i wish I could stay at home to look after my kids.

So do I, Jon is a complete douche. IMO, she treated Jon like a child on the show because he IS a child. Cant people see that now? I am sure he didnt just turn to a complete jacka$$ overnight. She was married to him and had to deal with all his $hit…thats why she was mean on the show. Jon sucks.

She is a B****! She does not have to live in a 1.5 million dollar home, drive a 60,000 car, have a personal trainer come to her home, get rid of the bodyguard, weekly tanning and nails, and go into NYC to get her hair done!! Downsize a bit and then she can afford to be home with her children more, she doesn’t need to live so extravagantly. She could make a living off her books and occasional speaking engagements.
if the father doing the EXACT SAME THING…nobody would say a damn thing – talk about double standard. this is her life and she should be able to do whatever she wants – don’t like her? don’t watch her show. i support women who are strong, successful and independant! jon is a jealous child who is having a little temper tantrums because he’s not getting his way. and so what if she’s living in a million dollar home and having pedicure done – what woman does not want that? why downsize when you don’t have to? i would rather see her working than collecting welfare!!!
How many time have to applied to be on a *REALITY SHOW*?She doesnt have to live like that and no not everybody wants those things there’s a time and place for everything.Shes didnt do anything but get a show because she had six kids a once!Shes a Nurse not a Movie star she didnt invent anything she doesnt Need that lifestyle.
sorry i don’t feel bad for her at all…she’s just concerend with the spotlight and be in front of the cameras…please try walking a day in my shoes, working 10-12 hours a day and then go home take care of the kids, cook, clean and take care of the house, etc…no hair extensions, no mani/pedis, no trainers, etc….please get a real life!! how many other single moms are out there who have it twice as bad….i’m tired of kate’s sob story of trying to provide for her family….
So would it make a difference if she had an OFFICE JOB working overtime constantly to feed her children, pay bills etc. as a single mom, Or was a Nurse or Doctor on call in the hospital working crazy hours…then is that when she wont be judges? is it bcos she is on TV that its a big deal she is working long hours? I WONDER!!!! hmmm.
Seriously, Jon is an immature baby. He’s not working, and someone has to pay for the kids’ education, home, lifestyle. She’s in showbiz, so what? She’s working b/c her lazy ex isn’t contributing. He’s out whoring around from 20 something to 20 something. And, when that doesn’t work out, he finds a new way to find his meal ticket in Kate.
