‘Iron Man 2′ director Jon Favreau struggled with the decision whether or not to leave Adam Goldstein’s (aka DJ AM) cameo in the upcoming film. Adam had filmed the scene just two months before he died. In the cameo, he plays himself, DJ’ing Tony Stark’s birthday bash.
Jon shared the decision and chatted about working with the famous DJ:
We tried to make it respectful, and for people who know him, they’ll get a kick out of it, and for people who don’t, it will sort of slide by without much notice,”
“I was just a fan of his, just an admirer of his work.”
Jon shared that Adam was only scheduled for one day on set, but he ended up staying the whole week:
“It was supposed to be a one-day bit. But Robert took a real shine to him, as we all did. His energy was amazing, he was such a inspiring guy and there was a lot of depth to him and this positive energy. He ended up staying on with us for about a week and it was just great; we set up this turntable and between takes he would give me pointers.”
Not only did they leave the cameo in, but they also have dedicated the movie to him.
I’m sure this will be bittersweet for friends, family and fans. Do you think Jon made the right choice by leaving it in? I’m sure it’ll be good to see DJ AM doing what he loved to do.

weird i was just thinking about him today and i don’t know much about him. i think that’s very thoughtful and sweet that he would do that for him. i’m sure his family and friends would truly appreciate it.
Yes, I think they should leave it in.
I think they did the right thing. It’s a tribute to his memory
Why praise people who do and die from drugs? Makes NO sense.
First off he was a recovering addict who just happen to relapse due to the fact that he was prescribed pain killers after he was in a plane crash. So dont speak without knowing all the facts you just so ignorant.
That’s great of them to do, DJ Adman, had a lot of people that really loved him,, totally cool
It’s terribly sad what happened and I think this is a fitting and respectful tribute.
